Speak to the GP but be warned, It could be a very long process.
Mine on the back of my neck appeared in 2008, the gp practice I was with at the time wouldn't do anything because they don't cause pain. 😂 That's a joke and a half as from it appeared, it has caused nothing but pain!!
Finally persuaded current GP to refer to get an opinion on it in 2019. She had said no for 10 years as they don't cause pain.. 😂 (still not funny)
In February 2020, I was seen and assessed at surgical assessment clinic and was booked for removal in April 2020 which was cancelled due to covid. This was to be done under local anaesthetic.
Appointment was booked for January 22. Turned up on the day and different surgeon looked at it, wouldn't touch it as they have a limit on how much local anaesthetic they can give in outpatient clinic and it wouldn't even touch 1/4 of it. Its 12 inches width and about 8 and a half inches high so massive. It is from the base of my neck to mid shoulders blade with a massive pressure across it and pain from it.
He ordered a another ultrasound, followed by a CT and then MRI. I'm now looking at about 2-3 years for removal under general as it's involvement of nerves and causing neck strain, I haven't been able to turn my head properly in years. Complex migraines have hospitalized me many times since 2008 and are now believed to be made worse by the pressure on my neck and shoulders. 75% of my health problems stem from as soon as it appeared... As my health slid down from its appearance.
I estimate it be another couple of years before its gone. I'm hoping it will help things big time. So insist on a referral for an "opinion". I took no for an answer and it was a mistake. It's definitely not cosmetic in my case so I hope that your gp is helpful.
