Tethering laptop to phone's data to use remotely

I want to be able to work on the laptop in remote locations like parks and beaches to make the most of nice weather.

There'd be no Wi-Fi available, I know I've done this last summer but I've forgotten how it worked maybe? Cos I've just tried to do this on laptop/phone and it's not working for some reason.

I've been googling furiously but according to all I'm reading I've done everything I'm supposed to (and yes I've turned everything on and off again!)

Can anyone help? Microsoft don't even seem to understand what I'm trying to do which is very frustrating!

So to use mine i have to turn my phone into a hot spot and then just log on to that
What have you tried?

Hotspot. You'll need to put a pwd into either phone or laptop. It's a quick and expensive way to use up your mobile data if you have a limited package though.

On my iPhone I activate the hot spot on settings, allow sharing and then my laptop finds it in its Wi-Fi .
If it’s the first time you will have to add the PW too

You need to turn your phone into a hotspot (that should be in your mobile data settings and turn your Bluetooth on. Connect your laptop to your phone via bluetooth.

Then, go on your internet settings on your laptop and you should see your phone as a network to connect to. Click connect and your phone should either connect automatically or flash up with a password to log you in.

As PP said it will kill your battery and use a ton of data, though.

This is how I do mine (on Android phone): Connect phone to laptop with USB - turn on Data Roaming on phone - go to Mobile hotspots and tethering and turn on USB tethering. Bingo, should work!

Meant to say, just doing work stuff (not streaming) seems OK on data, not too bad. Emailing and stuff. I keep on eye on my data while I'm doing that anyway. HTH!
