Starting another of these threads cos I love ‘em & find them oddly comforting. Hope you’re all having a good Bank Holiday so far. I’ve had a couple of run ins with DD14 & have had to walk away. Kind of knew it would be like this as she got home from a weekend with her girlfriend & is extremely resentful that we didn’t let her stay another day. She’s been picking fights & keeps asking me to buy her stuff then kicking off when I tell her some of it needs to come out of her pocket money. Honestly it’s almost daily! She must think we have a bottomless pit of money!
The sun is shining so DH & I are going for a picnic & to see some bluebells. The fridge/freezer has packed up but I only put the mini sausages, pork pies etc in last night so they will be fine. We will have a cool box that isn’t cool! Luckily an engineer is coming tomorrow & we have cover through D & G so won’t need to pay. Unfortunately we’ll have to chuck a fair amount of the freezer contents. The milk was like cottage cheese earlier so no cuppa!
Think we’ll have pasta & pesto for tea. My friend lent me the DVD of the first Fisherman’s Friends film so we might watch that tonight.

It’s 9pm here, but today was a beautiful autumn day, around 24 degrees!
I had a good sleep in until almost 10am, then got up and had breakfast, cleaned the kitchen, did a load of laundry and hung it out, vacuumed, made beds. Headed out to the garden to do some weeding for a couple of hours. Inside for a shower and lunch, then did some meditation and had a nap! Went to the dog park for 1.5 hours, then home to cook dinner, bring in the washing, eat, clean up, shower and now in bed! A good day!

Dh is scraping grout, ds is revising for upcoming AS exams, dd is away at university and ddog is barking at everything that dares to move outside.
I’m trying to work up the energy to go and clear out a wardrobe but struggling! I have hurt my neck so that’s my excuse.

I was up at 6:30am to take eldest to work.
Bacon sandwiches made for everyone at 9am. Mopped the floors. Finished the washing. Youngest did his homework and middle child did her jobs. Cooked chicken and chips at 1pm and now 2 kids upstairs chilling and I'm sat in a quiet lounge watching silent witness.

I stayed in bed until 8 which is a rarity so that was lovely. Got up and had cooked breakfast with DH. Teenager ds's still in bed so we took the dogs for a good walk.

Home to put a wash on and cut the grass then had a daytime bath which always feel like a treat and we are heading out for dinner at adult DSS.

Teenager 1 is on his ps4.
Teenager 2 has gone the gym and I've promised to pick him up.

Had a lovely day. I used to feel like I had to be out or doing something on a bank holiday but after a recent health scare I realise I am allowed to just be home.

Its Vappu (May Day) so right now I'm waiting for my doughnuts to rise so I can fry them (traditional Vappu food). Soon I'll open up the Sima (traditional homemade mead), make the rest of the picnic food and decide whether we'll actually eat outside as a picnic or just have an indoor picnic. It was really nice and sunny earlier but its starting to get a bit overcast now.

OH is watching telly, DD is reading in her room, and DS is doing Reading Eggs because that's the only screen use he's allowed until he tidies the playroom - been a week and he's not given in yet Grin

Took dcs out this morning early to ice skating, then lunch. Back home, watched a film on the couch then just pottered about. Put some washing away etc. Been a quiet one but the weather where i am has been rubbish.

Me and one DC have covid so are struggled together watching a Disney film. DH has just gone to cook dinner and the other DC are up stairs playing on the switch. Not the bank holiday I'd had planned but thankful for the down time whilst feeling so ill.

Woke up early with DD and lounged in bed while she watched her iPad for a bit, then did a bit of modelling with some old bits of recycling. After DH got up (he’s been working late shifts so try to let him lie in a bit) we all went round to my best friend’s house as my DD (5) had made a card for her DD (18 months- not sure she really appreciated the sentiment lol).

We had a quick Burger King lunch and then went off to a small fair at a local farm- it’s a fabulous set up for little kids as you pay £10 for 2 hours and get to go on as many rides/bouncy castles as you want in that time. It started out lovely but was torrentially raining by the end so everyone huddled on the roundabout! Still got soaked but had a lovely time nonetheless.

Home now and DH has left for another shift and DD has been in the bath for 45 minutes and counting playing with her toy mermaid. I should probably fold some washing but have been sat on mumsnet the whole time.

Spag bol for tea and will probably watch some old Law and Order SVU when DD is asleep

I'm currently trapped under a staffy that thinks it's a tiny lap dog and is lay across me so I'm struggling to breathe. I haven't got the heart move him as he's only just forgiven me for giving him a bath earlier.
Had a nice breakfast with all the kids and dds boyfriend who stayed over last night. Then went for a walk with dogs and two youngest to the woods and got coffe and cakes from a place in the wood.
Just ordered some food and waiting for it to be delivered. Dd and her boyfriend have gone out. I'm trying to half heartedly catch up on the washing.

Lazed in bed with multiple teas until 10ish, then beds stripped, and put on to wash; cars washed and hoovered out, cleared one drawer out and one cupboard in kitchen. (The drawer was the potatoes and onions drawer that required some serious scrubbing).
Walked dog, shopped for a few bits for dinner and dropped DD at her friends.
Few more local errands then sat down for a doze & cuppa whilst joint is in the oven.
Will have a glass of wine with dinner, another dog walk, re make beds then long leisurely bath before bed.

We had a really busy day yesterday visiting family, hanging out with friends and attending a sport event so it's been nice to potter today.

I had a triple whammy of night outs this weekend, and have not long returned to my own bed for the first time since Thursday night. Have ordered a very large takeaway and am currently lounging on the couch watching Ghosts. Far too old for this!

MadEyeMoodysEye · 01/05/2023 19:05

DH is away this weekend, DM is staying here. A friend and her toddler came over for lunch today. Right now DM is cooking dinner and I'm enjoying the evening sun whilst watching the DC have a water fight in the garden. I'm probably jinxing it typing this but I don't think they've ever played so long without arguing.

Ozgirl75 · 01/05/2023 20:19

Right now DS2 is playing the cello and DS1 is watching Romeo+Juliet as he’s doing it in drama and I suggested he watched it. DH is at work. Earlier we went to a spring fete where it kept pouring with rain but it was quite fun anyway.
