If you don't drink alcohol what do you do on a Saturday night?

So for years now - years - every single Saturday night has involved drinking wine. I've decided I want to fully detox for a while and give my liver a chance to recover, just have a good break. But... I'm curious and although I'm thinking of different things to do with my evening I'm wondering what you guys do on a Saturday night? So far I'm thinking film, takeaway and maybe a fancy caramel drink with a good book...

Usually at home and usually alone, I know that's unpopular on here but I deal with people all week and by the time the weekend is here I can rarely be bothered with anyone, I like my own company too much. I usually listen to music but without alcohol I tend not to want to. I might plan a night time food shop, I like supermarkets when they are quiet!

Just do that but put a non alcoholic beverage in the wine class instead. If you don't like music without wine (?) Then read a book or watch a film.

Write a diary. Play GTA. Watch TV. Read. Watch YouTube. Edit photos. Eat. Listen to the radio. Drink tea.

Hawkins003 · 01/05/2023 01:07

At the moment, drink tea, watch different Oxford debates and intelligence services agents on different university debates, then bit of call of duty dmz, then zzzzzz

Maybe a nicer meal. Get the kids in bed earlier, spend some quality time with DH, maybe game, watch a movie, have a bath. Sometimes we go out and get a hot chocolate and sit in the car and watch the sun set. Since giving up drinking in 2021 I feel like I have so much more freedom!

Gingernaut · 01/05/2023 01:21

Drink Pepsi Max

mondaytosunday · 01/05/2023 01:33

I do exactly the same thing just not drinking alcohol, I'll have a Diet Coke or water instead.

Fandabedodgy · 01/05/2023 01:44

Last night (Saturday) I watched a film with my son and shared an Easter egg.

TransparentVision · 01/05/2023 05:43

Have dinner, watch TV or a film, hubby massages my feet and paints my toenails for me, drink soft drinks or tea, play monopoly. Head to bed earlier these days now that we are in our 40s. I know, we are so rock n roll, haha.

I'm not AF but have cut down loads. I like fermented non alcoholic drinks because their flavour has a complexity and an edge that I appreciate. I like JJ Kombucha, Nonsuch Shrubs with a Fevertree mixer or Shr'b drinks. If you pretty it up with citrus slices, ice and mint it feels really treaty.

I do normal things - I just don’t drink when I do them.

This lol. I do the exact same things I would have done on a Saturday night but with a soft drink instead of alcohol. Feel so much better for it too- weight has dropped off, skin glowing, better sleep etc.

UseOfWeapons · 01/05/2023 06:30

I don’t drink at all, haven’t for around 15years, I am usually too tired! Or i forget that a drink would be nice and it is too late. I just do all the normal things, and drink water. I have an expensive essential oil that I use on a Saturday night that I have on a little tissues beside the bed, which makes me feel relaxed.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/05/2023 06:33

The same as I did before just without alcohol

CeriB82 · 01/05/2023 06:38

what ever I’d do on any other night. Bath, walk, tv, fake tan, cook.

and drink water or orange/pineapple squash. My favourite!

Ducatifan · 01/05/2023 06:43

Saturday night is the night we all watch what we want and just chill out. DC are in their rooms, possibly gaming or chatting to friends, DH loves a bit of Netflix in the lounge and I’ll usually have a bath or shower, clean Pjs and sheets and jump into bed and watch TV there. I’ll have my iPad and relax. I’ll drink water. Very occasionally, I’ll have a gin but the less I drink these days, the more I don’t like how it makes me feel during the night or the next day so I don’t bother.

With a 3yo and 1yo this gives me hope for the future haha.

Saturday night is like every other night - battle to get the children to sleep and then I will have some chocolate and go to bed myself.

PortiasBiscuit · 01/05/2023 06:49

I have discovered Becks Blue, very happy to drink that. It allows me to stay sober so I can pick DD up from whatever venue she chooses to get smashed at.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2023 06:56

Are you drinking when out with friends ?

If so go out and have a soft drink

If drinking at home alone or with partner

Watch tv - read a book etx

Basically do what you did before but with a soft drink in your hand

Creepyrosemary · 01/05/2023 07:09

What do you do on other nights?

happyumwelt · 01/05/2023 07:37

We might spend a bit longer over dinner, but I am quite an extreme morning person, so am often in bed with my book by around 8.30pm! Before bed I do things like play piano or guitar, do puzzles, play board/card games with dc and dh - we almost never go out. I get up very early, even at the weekend, and that's my favourite time of the day - it's amazing to jump out of bed with a clear head.

Spanielsarepainless · 01/05/2023 07:39

The same as the other six nights of the week. What a strange question.

QueefQueen80s · 01/05/2023 08:25

Mocktails
Fancy hot chocolate

Good luck!

katyperryseyelid · 01/05/2023 08:27

Same as every other bastard night. Lots of clearing up and willing the 2 year old to behave.

I only used to drink because I was so bored. Now I’m still bored but not spending ££ on wine.

MrsMontyD · 01/05/2023 09:09

Same as I would if I drunk alcohol, we either stay in and watch tv, maybe a film, or go out to meet friends at a pub or go to see a band.

LlynTegid · 01/05/2023 09:23

I'd do the film, but not the takeaway.

Giselletheunicorn · 01/05/2023 17:07

Go out for dinner, go to the cinema, catch up with friends. Same as always really...
