What shall I do with my little room?

I have just moved into a new flat, living by myself. It has a little room that was advertised as a second bedroom, but isn't really big enough. I had intended to make it into a single guest room but it would be a tight squeeze and not that nice I don't think. I may just get a sofa bed in the (large) living room for guests instead.

I am torn. In the meantime, what else could I do with my little room? It measures 3.01 x 2.16m but is an awkward space due to where the door and radiator are. It is long and narrow, with a very high ceiling.

It would make a lovely dressing room but I don't know if I can be that self-indulgent!

Re. guests - I don't have them often. When I do, it would likely be 1-2 friends or my niece and/or nephew (3 and 8).

Can you make the door open outward or fold or slide? Perhaps dispense with it entirely and use a heavy curtain instead, to free up a little floor space?

Sofa bed will be fine, if you don't mind taking it when you have guests?

Was the "second bedroom" included in the rent price. IE were you charged for something not for purpose?

Bunk beds in it for the little ones?

If you already have home office space, I would just turn it into the closet of your dreams. The rest of the home could be so decluttered with a good storage design.

argh, I am so torn now...! Lots of good (but different) advice Smile

Since you've just moved in, before you spend money on decorating and furnishing it might be worth just leaving it empty
After a while you'll be able to pinpoint what would be the most practical use of that room for you/ what you are missing within your current set up

I think the idea to give it a few months and see what you need is a good one. It takes a while to see how you use a space.

I’ve done so much research into tiny beds as my box room is tiny, much smaller than yours!

You could get something like the John Lewis Kix II for when the kids come to stay. The double just fits a short adult or two small kids, but would be tight for 2 adults:

My 3rd room is just over 2M X 2M and I've just made it into a very cozy bedroom for my youngest son. He has a bed, chest of draws, small bookcase, tv is on draws. He loves it, storage underneath the bed. X
