What do you need a round of applause for this week?

I cut the grass yesterday. First cut since last year and it had grown wild. I had to strim it, then mow it and it took 3 hours.

This is my second weekend alcohol free. For the last few years I've had 1 to 2 bottles of wine at the weekend but perimenopause has kicked in and it's ruining my sleep. I even picked up a bottle of wine in Tesco yesterday, read the label, then put it back.

What small achievements of yours need celebrating?

I've managed to squeeze in extra homework with my kids. Not as much as I'd like but enough that they will manage school more easily next week.

I got my poorly two year old to take a pill without any tears or fuss, after a lunatic pharmacist prescribed what is normally liquid in pill form and I didn't look until we were home.

Perhaps the most accomplished I've ever felt.

Ah mowing the lawn is my chore today!
I made the kitchen spotless fir visitors. Then we had dinner and now looks like I cooked for ten people instead of two.
My failure is I forgot, as usual, to put the empty milk bottles out.

Yesterday my husband told me he was tierd multiple times from a relatively easy night with the baby -- took all my strength not to shout me too, suck it up buttercup.

OldTinHat · 01/05/2023 08:29

Did a load of washing and hung it outside on the line for the first time since last year. It made me very happy!

AssertiveGertrude · 01/05/2023 08:34

finally standing up to a bit of a bully who is my mother

it might sound insignificant but it’s not to me

Ooh ooh me!
I SHOULD have assumed the depression weekend as per usual and stayed in pjs on the sofa watching TV wanting to die.
BUT NO!
I got my scruffs on, cleaned my teeth and hoovered the entire house, sorted 3 big bags for the charity shop, did 2 loads of washing, damp dusted everywhere and cleaned the kitchen.
I dod some garden jobs in the sunshine too.

Then had a hot bath and eventually sat down at 7.30 last night!!
Score!

You don’t know the effort it took to just take off my pjs.
Feel accomplished and chuffed.

Well done !! As someone who gives in to that depression feeling often, I know how big of an achievement that is.

800 mile round trip driven to spend a day in the office. 7 hours working and then 7.5 hours on the motorway going home was fun.

Stormyinacoffeemug · 01/05/2023 08:44

First week of my healthy living plan - I have stuck to healthy eating, no alcohol, bed early and early to rise, moving more, and started doing a few bits around the house. Oh and I lost 7.5lb.

The fact the washing basket was empty for all of half a day. It's never empty in my house

ThatshallotBaby · 01/05/2023 08:49

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well done everyone. I cleaned out the shed. 3 loads to the tip! Can’t tell you how sainted I feel Grin

TweedPillow · 01/05/2023 08:49

I made my friend feel loved after visiting her and offering support and trying to work out a plan after her twat of a husband left her after 30 years.

We have an old dining table that DH owned before we even met - it must be nearly 20 years old. The top was unfinished and marked with stains, biro from when DD was a toddler, you name it. I finally cracked, attacked it with a sander and oiled the top, it now looks beautiful- I’m so proud of myself because we had been talking about chucking it and buying new!!

am slightly obsessed now and going round the house giving various bits of wooden furniture the side eye and trying to decide if I can sand and oil / varnish / paint them. I fear I may have just become one of those people who find old bits of furniture and spend ages sprucing them up….

Catsmere · 01/05/2023 09:14

Bloody hero! I need to do the same

AllotmentTime · 01/05/2023 09:44

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 to you all!!!

I roped DH into helping me put a pegboard up for DS. DS (7) is underwhelmed but I'm delighted with it!

Also did a little bit of weeding and lined up some seeds for planting today.

Waiting for some health news so DH and I are both going crazy and anything is an achievement atm... yay for us!

Surviving for my 5th day since husband walked out the door for a woman 20 years younger than me.

I'm struggling! I need to stop putting this on here, but I've given myself a week to wallow before picking myself up. Although im trying a little more each day.

Limth · 01/05/2023 10:25

I had a bit of a meltdown over a new craft project because I couldn't decide how/where to start. But then I just threw myself head-first into it and it looks great.

My PT told me I had a perfect body.... not in general, in reference to a particular martial art move. Still, win!!!
