What fresh hell is this? Had a sore throat and sneezing yesterday. Woke at 1 am and am smothered with a cold. My whole nose/face area is agony. Have taken paracetamol - any suggestions?

It could be various things but I had this symptom with Covid. I hope that you feel better soon, whatever it is.

SirVixofVixHall · 29/04/2023 12:46

Sounds like Covid to me too.

ChopperC110P · 29/04/2023 12:49

Could be a sinus infection. If you get snot that is greeny or yellowy, call a GP on Monday.

Try something targeted for sinuses like Sudafed.

Paracetamol won't touch it. Also take a COVID test as horrible new variants emerging every week.

Grohlette · 29/04/2023 12:55

Use a salt water nasal spray to soothe it, it’ll sting but feel much better after a while

Covid test negative

I've never known anything like it. Want to pull my face off. Am here with 3dc alone, might have to try and get to chemist as only have paracetamol in

Take another test in a few days to double check. I tested negative on lateral flows and PCR even though I had all the symptoms. It took 4 or 5 days for it to show up on another lateral flow but it may be a sinus infection.

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 29/04/2023 15:00

Does the pain/pressure intensify when you bend over? If so it’s likely sinusitus which is vile. Sudafed or Actifed from behind the pharmacy counter will relieve the pain.

Are you a hayfever sufferer? The pollen has been vicious this spring and it’s caused me to feel similar at times.

IamThegreaterMole · 29/04/2023 15:04

Hayfever is possible, try an antihistamine.

I had something like this and did an e consult to GP with photos. She called me straight away and sent me to the integrated care unit. It was nasal vestibulitis - had Naseptin cream and antibiotics prescribed (which worked). Doctor said likely Staph infection

There are no visible signs of anything around the nostril. Sudafed max gave relief for about an hour. Feeling very sorry for myself
