Listening to the news this morning, and in the last hour I have heard "bandied about" and "trotted out."I knew I would disagree-and I did! Usually means "valid argument I wish to disparage."Same applies on here as well. Also "haters." Usually means people who disagree with me. What are yours?

Deniers

Lovebombing, gaslighting, abusive, controlling, narcissistic, attachment style and any other psychobabble.

Do the concepts that these words decribe exist. Yes. Do they exist in the circumstances where the words are being used - 99% of the time - no. Any psychobabble and thinking you know others better than themselves because you read an article online...I know we are not going to be friends. I assume the same people are into astrology and other faux ways of understanding people - psychics and tarot cards etc.

TERF. TWAW. Karen. As soon as someone says any of these in a serious way, I know I won't agree with whatever they're saying.

Also: Manifest, for example "I'm going to manifest a yacht". It sounds like something you'd call pest control about. Is usually followed by them trying to sell some MLM crap.

I'd forgotten Karen! And I've never heard "manifest" but it's on the list now.

I’m not racist but…

Pootles34 · 27/04/2023 10:30

'Do gooders', also 'snowflake' and 'woke' to a lesser extent.

Rogue1001MNer · 27/04/2023 10:31

"As a tory voter...."

"I don't hate xxxx, but...."

Anything citing religion as an excuse

JuneShitfield · 27/04/2023 10:35

Anyone who refers to ‘the woke mob’ (or mobs of any variety, really) tends to get tuned out by me.

ComtesseDeSpair · 27/04/2023 10:36

In the UK: “that sounds like an interesting idea; I’ll bear it in mind” = “that is a terrible idea and you are a simpleton.”

limitedperiodonly · 27/04/2023 10:45

"Up to a point" is my favourite.

limitedperiodonly · 27/04/2023 10:47

I mean I say or think: "up to a point..." when I hear some things.

Stonetolose · 27/04/2023 10:47

With all due respect .... no respect intended

notprincehamlet · 27/04/2023 11:08

I imagine that people who instruct others to 'be kind' or 'educate' themselves daydream fondly about soviet-style correctional labour models. Also the use of 'clearly' (esp by politicians) to preface obfuscation.

MrBit · 27/04/2023 11:35

'Don't be a sheep' = completely dismissed the idea before the words left their mouth
'Hmm that's something to think about' meaning they will never think about your chappy suggestion again
'That's an interesting take on it' =fucking idiot who hired them
