we go tomorrow for the weekend. Is it all cashless? Do I need to book all the restaurants now? Haven’t been since 2019!

Yeah think it was all card only. Maybe the supermarket bit took cash? Some restaurants will be fully booked at popular times but we walked into most places without bookings.

We were there last week. I booked restaurants and activities online, it's really easy. Not sure if it is cashless but we certainly didn't use any cash to pay for anything!

Blamunge · 27/04/2023 07:09

It’s probably too late to get restaurant bookings now. Get online and book what you can before it’s too late!

Yes , it’s all cashless. You should be fine with restaurants. We had some trouble getting bookings at good times we wanted but it was half term.

RuLu · 27/04/2023 07:09

Yes, cashless.

We managed to book some restaurants when we got there but didn't always get the times we wanted. I wish I'd booked restaurants beforehand.

I went in December, booked it in September. I thought I’d book all activities and restaurants as soon as I booked the actual holiday (so 2 months before). There was practically no availability for any of the activities other than rubbish like pottery painting and orienteering and we ended up eating lunch at 11.30 and dinner at 9pm as all the more normal timings were booked up. Absolute pita.

Heroicallyfound · 27/04/2023 07:26

Yep book everything including restaurants online. You don’t need to book the sports cafe to eat. You can cancel activities online at short notice, so if you go another time it’s best to book everything you think you might want to do in advance as soon as bookings open up (they email you weeks in advance), then you can cancel if you change your mind nearer the time. I didn’t use any cash.

Thanks everyone. Just logged in and panic booked! Was almost too late for hucks though!
Where has the spontaneity gone!

Exactly. Who wants to decide what time they'll want to eat and have to co-ordinate times with activities months in advance?

Whatever happened to getting up and deciding what you felt like doing on the day, based on what the weather was doing?

Thereisnoname · 27/04/2023 08:00

I went after Christmas and everything was booked in advance. It ruined the weekend to be honest as felt like we were on a timetable, no spontinety and if kids saw something they wanted to do they couldn't as was all booked up.
I wouldn't bother going again to be honest much prefer Butlins system where you do book things but only a week before hand and only activities not reasturants.

Slimjimtobe · 27/04/2023 08:02

It’s all cashless. The Sports Bar doesn’t need to be booked for food. We loved cooking in the lodge with the fire on and everything was at hand

G33g · 27/04/2023 08:28

Exactly. Who thought it was a good idea? Who wants to be referring to a spreadsheet every hour!

Watch out for tips added to bills. "Because of being cashless, we realise it's harder to leave a tip...."

GoldenGorilla · 27/04/2023 08:47

Yeah but the added service charge was only about 6 percent, way less than most places. And they do say you can opt not to pay it.
