Birmingham Arena - advice please!

We have tickets for a show at Birmingham Arena and I am looking for hotels/accommodation. I've never been into the centre of Birmingham so I'm not sure what the transport is like. Are we best to get a hotel in walking distance of the Arena or is there a good tram/bus network or similar.

Advice from lovely mumsnetters please!

Is it the Utilita Arena? Depending on budget the Hyatt is very close. Lots if placed to eat and drink across the canal in Brindley place.

There are a number of hotels on broad street, a range of prices I.e Hyatt, travel lodge, jury's inn

Double check which arena, one is central Birmingham so any city centre hotel is fine (Hyatt is particularly close) if it's the nec one get accommodation out near the venue as its outside the city

There is a great choice of hotels in walking distance of the Utilita. I stayed in the jewellery quarter for Peter Kay last Friday because I like the (15 min) stroll in but AC Hotel is very close and do deals often, as do Malmaison or The Burlington.
If you want a meal first, Dishoom is ideal but, as above, loads of eating places in Brindley Place. If you ear afterwards, head to China Town.

Yes it's the utilita. I am a bit of a gig newbie. It says it starts at 1800 but I'm assuming the main band don't come on until later. Not sure what time we will be out? Taking my 16 year old daughter so won't be hitting any clubs but food after sounds like a possibility. Are there food venues in the arena like the O2 or is it smaller?

Yeah doors and food open at 6 but it's more fish and chips and pizza stands. The restaurants are across the canal.

There's a Botanist, cafe rouge. Bank - all sorts. It's an easy walk from new street to the hotels around B-road street but there is a tram too

Premiere Inn, it’s right next to Birmingham New Street Station, in fact, it’s called Birmingham New Street. I’ve stayed there a couple of times myself. It’s about 15 minutes walk to the arena tops even if you’re a snail, and you’re right smack bang in the middle of the city, plus right next to the train station. It’s decent, and not too expensive.

also grand central café for breakfast. It’s right opposite the station. Always got railway workers in there. It’s banging.

The arena is in the middle of the city centre, so lots of hotels & restaurants within minutes.

Premier Inn bham city centre (broad st) is very close, but new st or waterloo St are both within walking distance. But any hotels in brindley place will be fine & it's a nice place for a wander - you have to have a photo with the giraffe!

I hope you enjoy Birmingham 😊
