Dh has been selected to do this but we both get carers allowance so can he explain to then he won’t be available to attend ?

I don’t know the answer to the specific question, but you could try to get it deferred. Is it essential that you’re both at home doing the caring, or is it possible with one person?

We both need to be at home so it would be impossible to do. Hopefully they understand

Ask to be excused from jury serviceIf it’s not possible for you to do jury service in the next 12 months, you can ask to be excused. You’ll only be allowed to do this in exceptional circumstances, for example:

  • you have a serious illness or disability that prevents you from doing jury service
  • you’re a full time carer of someone with an illness or disability

Jury service

What to do if you're asked to do jury service - taking time off work, delaying jury service, claiming expenses. Includes information from the withdrawn 5222, 5222A and Juror Charter guidance

Yes it is 👍🏻

For some reason I've been called multiple times, which I'm more than happy about because I really liked it the one time I did it, but the other two times I was excused, once I asked to defer as I was breastfeeding DD and had no alternative childcare for her, and they just excused me straight away. Second time I was a registered carer for DD who by then had been diagnosed with autism and for DH who was going through daily chemotherapy at that time and no way was I letting anyone else take over that role. They excused me no question and I haven't been called again.

Thanks, my OH wouldn’t get a drink or food without me. Have dogs too but doubt they count for exemption.
