Travel savvy help needed please ?

Finally getting a long overdue holiday. Seemingly have forgotten how it all works.

Flights to European city by probably either Ryanair or easyjet perhaps one outbound and the other for return if that works out cheapest for me.

Cheap as possible, happy to give dates and from/to in pm rather than here if possible.

Will also need insurance and best value Euros.

Hoping you wonderful savvy travellers can help?

Thank you everyone I am now booked with Ryanair.

If anyone is happy to share tips on baggage and checking in etc with them as I've heard it can be tricky I'd be most grateful

It isn't really. Your booking email will tell you what baggage allowance you have, including dimensions. They can be pretty strict but they are upfront about what the restrictions are so I've never ha4d any trouble with them.

You can check-in online up to a month before and print your boarding pass.

If you have paid for hold luggage it might be that that is self-service as well at the airport but there will be someone around.

Insurance-check with your bank. It’s probably covered

Luggage-just take carry on. Unless you’re going for 2 weeks you don’t need more. We just did a week in France with a family of 4 and took one carry on bag each.

Money- get either a prepaid card Post office do them. Or with a bank like starling. No fees and you can just pay by card or withdraw cash while you’re there. Much simpler

What have you booked in terms of carry on and/or hold luggage? Then maybe someone can help with that

Is it now?

I've got several accounts and have had many over the years. Not one has ever included travel insurance.

@Graphista what have you booked as baggage? When you book with Ryanair they give you a price for just a seat. Any extra is optional on the booking page. You can choose a carry on case for overhead or hold luggage of various weights which you have to pay for. If you book a return flight you have to have same for both.
You can add on later after booking.
Make sure you check in online as £££ at the airport

greyhairnomore · 01/05/2023 15:53

@Graphista apply for a GHIC card , replaced old EHIC.
But you should always get insurance before you book ideally in case you have to cancel , but see you've already booked so get some now.

When using your bank card in either a machine or to pay for things when you are there, if they give you a choice of £ or € amount always choose the € amount - the banking system will give you a better rate than what is being offered.

Hi- can I jump in?

Somebody mention disabling cookies or deleting browsing history. I've been searching for flight only to Cyprus- does this thing work?

Please check that your passport will remain valid until you return to the UK. Also, I think that from next year, travellers from UK into Europe may need a visa. Someone on here will know...

Actually needs to be 6 months for 6 months after your return. And if you renewed early last time and had extra months added, they no longer count. So your return date must be no more than 9 years 6 months since the date the passport was issued - regardless of the expiry date printed in it.

@BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn , thanks for the extra detail. Can't remind people often enough.
