Bleed on the brain - age 88

I'm posting here looking for any information or experience - an elderly relative was taken to hospital today very confused and after a brain scan we have been told they have a bleed on the brain. Am I right in thinking this isn't a stroke? Does anyone know what happens in this scenario?

I'm not next of kin so just getting information sporadically but worrying hence why I'm posting.

It could be a haemorrhagic stroke, you would need to clarify. But it is most likely a haemorrhagic stroke.

I don't know if it is that I'll ask

It's basically a type of stroke where an aneurysm has burst and there is bleeding on the brain and it interferes with the brain's ability to function. Imo, I'd be asking what the immediate treatment plan is and when things might settled enough for you to know the extent of any damage. Hopefully, your relative will heal well.

Depends where abouts the bleed is on the brain, but most likely a stroke. As to how badly they are affected largely depends on how large the bleed is and where abouts in the brain the bleed occurred.

As above. Depends how big a bleed and how it's affected them. May need clipping or some kind of surgery to relieve pressure on the brain, might not: disclaimer not worked in neuro ICU for quite a few years.
If quality of life is already not good and multiple comorbidities, a discussion with medics about how to move forward may be in hand.
