Can anything other than surgery help diastasis recti?

Hi everyone

Posting in chat for traffic.

I had my last child 8 1/2 years ago ( both DC by c section) and was lucky to always have a flatish stomach afterwards.

Last December I had open abdo surgery to remove a fibroid ( myomectomy). Following the surgery ( they aren’t sure why!) I now have quite pronounced bulge from tummy button to scar. To the extent I’ve had to buy new clothes. The consultant says for some reason I now have diastasis recti ( but a smaller area than usually occurs). They think it just have always been there but it wasn’t showing for some reason ( not sure I understand why!).

Anyway I’ve been referred to a plastic surgeon to discuss, but was wondering if anyone has found anything that helps it all? Or is surgery really the only option ( or learn to accept it)? Particularly as this is potentially so long post pregnancy?

If anyone has had this and has advice I’d be very grateful!

no experience per se but I’ve seen holistic core restore do a diastasis recti course which might be worth trying to chat to a trainer about.

Thanks - will take a look. I also do see a physio for pelvic floor but she missed it so have slightly lost a bit of confidence in her!

Katy Bowman is absolutely the right person for this

Thanks - that looks good and a whole body approach makes sense to me.
