4 hours in London

Morning,

Due to a cancelled event, I have four hours of free time in London. This is a rare opportunity as I usually come to London for work or with my family. I don’t want to waste this!

Inspire me with what you would do! It will be in the daytime. Thanks!

Where in London do you need to go home from? It can take a good hour to get from one side to the other

blondie87 · 23/04/2023 11:14

From Marylebone. That is was probably quite important information to have included 😅

To start with, what are you interests, if, for example you have zero interests, say in history or art that rules out options and helps us with suggestions, or similarly if there are things you are majorly keen on it gives us a guide. Do you like busy or quiet and where do you live normally, ie what kind of activities do you normally have access to?

I like museums, galleries, exhibitions, food, shopping. I don’t live in a city; pretty much the opposite, so even just wandering round buzzing, vibrant places with interesting shops/architecture appeals.

Or just walking round a nice route with lots to see also appeals.

I would get to London Bridge station, then head to Borough Market. On to the Tate Modern. Then walk along the Thames to Southbank, then to the London Eye. From there you can go over Westminster Bridge to Big Ben. Depending on time, you could head back to Marylebone/Baker’s Street from Westminster

If you have time you could walk down to Trafalgar Square then the Bakerloo line from Charing will get you straight back to Marylebone

I was in Westminster yesterday and walked past Downing St, past trafalgar Square, big Ben, Westminster Bridge, saw the London eye across the river. That was a really nice walk. What about the marathon though? Yesterday there were lots of barriers and road closures ready for the marathon.

Daunts bookshop on Marylebone Hight street is a must if you like books.

I would go to the After Impressionism exhibition at the National Gallery and lunch in China Town

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I’m going to put together an itinerary so I can make maximum use of time!
