Hi all if you have a garage and have used the space or part space for working from Home - how have you made it useable? I WFH normally. I have 2 DCs and trying to WFH over Easter hols was not fun. We don’t have space at home for me to have a full room to Myself. I want to create a nice space. Please give me some ideas!

I set up my home office in my garage in 2004. I had help insulating the walls and ceiling/floor as it was a very old brick one and freezing. Once insulated it was fabulous. I had. Wifi extender plugged in and didn’t have any wifi issues. Children grown up and left home so now in the spare room. Would 💯 do it again.

Split the garage in half and essentially had an insulted box built in the back half of our detached garage. Builders completed it in early 2022.

Wifi extender and an oil filled radiator and I'm happy as Larry out there. Unless it's raining and I need a wee!

Split the garage in half. Either box it in completely, or put a shed in there. Ideally add a window. Insulate, heater, wifi extender.

I work from my garage and had to apply for change of use with the council.

Could you consider a full conversion to a room if this is something that will be needed over and over? You could do the whole room or just part of it retaining some area for storage. ie pay a builder or garage conversion company to do it.

Alternatively, are you any good at DIY or not? If yes, then lots of YouTube videos on DIY garage conversions and how to stop it getting damp (Restoration Couple or Carpenter's Daughter) you can do it as a temporary thing so as not to need planning (change of use) or building regs. Easy enough to build a stud wall to section off part of the garage, again, a million videos on YouTube on plasterboarding, insulation etc. You don't have to have it skimmed. That way the original door is still at the front and no one is any the wiser. We viewed a house like that with a temporary conversion to an office.
