How did this happen with my eyesight?

Throughout my childhood and early adult years I wore glasses or contact lessons. My prescription slowly increased from +0.25 to +2.5. From mid 20s to now at 30 from laziness and vanity I just didn't bother with anything. Accepted life a little blurry but I could see well enough that I stopped noticing any lack of focus. Well I decided this isn't responsible and to have an eye test. My prescription has gone to +0.25. It makes me question whether wearing glasses made my eyes lazy and that's why my prescription increased in the first place? Does anyone else have experience of this? Or am I talking nonsense?

I've had astigmatism improve - well go away. I rectified vitamin deficiencies and was outside more.

Eyes change throughout your life. I had to wear glasses as a young kid (around 4 -9) eyesight corrected itself mostly untill I then had to wear glasses for computer/reading only from age 14+. From then until now my prescription has fluctuated from 0.25 to +3. In my late 20's the optician recommended I start wearing my glasses all the time, so I jumped to contact lenses. Most years I need a slight adjustment to the prescription.
I have astigmatism in both eyes, so I'm not sure if this is why my eyes change so much.
I did/do have a lazy eye, this eye still gets tired more quickly than the other but it's prescription changes are not any worse than my other eye.

It's so bizarre that you posted this as I've just been to the opticians and the same has happened to me! Last had an eye test around 10 years ago and wore glasses which I lost a few years ago, and never got round to replacing.
Finally went for a test this morning and apparently I don't need glasses! Apparently it can happen. Back then I was staring at a screen for 10 hours a day and I'm not now. Not sure if that has anything to do with it?

This happened to me! When i wore my glasses daily for computer use, reading etc (10 years +) i found that at each eye test my prescription would get stronger. However, over the last 3 years i couldn't be bothered with the faff of wearing my glasses and went for an eye test last month. My eye sights improved so much that i only have a weak prescription for my reading glasses now! Bizarre

My dad needed them as a young man and then not until he hit his late 60s. Even now he doesn't need them most of the time.
