Do you have an "inner prefect"?

I have just reported a pothole near my house to the council
At the end of a sharing assembly I stack up the chairs
I ran after a woman who had trapped her jacket in her car door to let her know.

Am I weird?

The world needs people like you.

Be a proud prefect.

Sounds fine to me

I love it and agree more should do this. I think I sued to be like this but I grew up in another European country and that was the norm in the sense of ciciv responsibility/duty and being part of your community. I feel that there are fewer people in England who do this but more common in Scotland. It's about speaking up and doing the right thing and doing the honourable thing but many people don't want to rock the boat or embarrass themselves so they gossip and moan but never do anything about anything. Also, I think it's seen as square in this day and age. Which is a huge shame.

I call that keeping the Guide Law. 😊

I do nice things all the time, but I don’t have an inner prefect, I have an inner 15 year old saying “look at that twat” or “ooo fit bloke” and other totally stupid things. I don’t act on them, I’m basically the same as when I was 15 which is a good girl with an inner rebel 😁

It’s the sort of thing I do. I’ve had to report a couple of leaking water pipes recently.

I think being a good citizen and good human is important. I always try and make things just a little bit better for people whenever I get the chance. There have been times in my life when small every day kindnesses were what renewed my belief in life and humanity, they kept me going. A few years ago I also realised that when I saw something eg. A pot hole or a broken piece of playground equipment and thought "somebody should do something about that" that there was no reason that somebody couldn't be me. I was a selfish teenager, I was never a prefect, never did scouts or girl guiding and never really did any of that kind of stuff. But I do hold things like that in great value and try to live in a way that is kind and helpful and proactive, not mean, rude or nihilistic like I was as a teenager

I remember seeing a drawing of two women ( might have been fairies) and it’s about straightening another woman’s crown ie. helping someone without needing any thanks or a fan fare. And that’s what I try to do, just help people when I can.
Although occasionally people don’t want help and it goes badly !

Stormydanielss · 20/04/2023 22:15

I tell women if they have loo roll on their shoes, or how nice their dress is etc
I like to be nice but god help me if you're rude to me 😝
