Child friendly spa days?

mae2014 · 20/04/2023 11:32

Not too sure if I'm posting in the right place,
But can anyone recommend any child-friendly spa day places I can take my 9-year-old niece?
Preferably a swimming pool and somewhere she can get her toes painted.
Thanks xx

Where do you live? Many spa hotels have days when the pool is open to families for a period of time. I actually had a hard time finding one that was adults only when I was just looking. You would have to ask if they would do nails on a child. I assume they would with adult/parent permission. I could name a few but probably very far from you.

I'd be so annoyed if there were children at a spa if I'd forked out for a relaxing day. So many people will be there to relax away from their own kids.
Take her to a public pool and then a nail bar. Spas aren't designed for kids.

The Grand in York has specific times in the spa for children and a mini manicure treatment.

I did not know this was a thing. I'll be sure to check any spa I book are adult only. I'd be livid to find a 9 year old in a spa.

Look out for luxury family hotels, they have spa days designed for mums and daughters.

Completely agree

Most won't allow children, maybe for a specific time in the pool if you are a hotel guest like 9-10am before the majority of spa guests are coming.

I looked for ages as I wanted to treat DD to a weekend away when she turned 15 but nothing. A lot has also to do with the therapist license, the spa is not allowed to treat under 16 or 18 year olds.

If I book an expensive spa day I defintitely don't want children there, teen yes as most will know how to behave.

We have a day spa, treatments only, no pool or lounge area, they do children treatments and it's quite popular though. Maybe look at those.

@mae2014 Do check with her parents before you do this- I wouldn't have liked it for my dd at this age. How about a swimming pool with slides then afternoon tea somewhere?

SleepingStandingUp · 20/04/2023 17:29

Sounds like an oxymoron to me

gogohmm · 20/04/2023 17:33

I've personally never seen one that allows under 12's. Hotels do generally allow children in the pool and may allow a pedicure if you stay with her

OUB1974 · 20/04/2023 18:25

There's one in Melton. I took my kids here a while ago and it was amazing! They had hand and foot massages, a foot spa and a jacuzzi...

This. I’d love to take my DD10 but will wait til she’s 16, I believe that’s usually the age limit. They can’t go in the sauna or anything, it’s a giant waste of money.

Our local leisure centre has a pool and a beauty room, try that.

You will piss every single other person in there off if you bring a kid to a proper spa.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/04/2023 18:29

I’m afraid I’m another one who would be very unhappy to find anyone under 16-18 in a spa. They are expensive and I don’t want kids ruining the experience. A beauty place near me does packages for children though.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/04/2023 18:31

The place I mentioned is the same place mentioned to thread. The beauty temple. It’s local to me and really nice. Though still wouldn’t be keen on kids being there.

Fortunately they are and they are no so many people like you

Jellycatspyjamas · 10/02/2025 12:06

I’d not be thrilled to spend the money on a spa and find primary aged kids there - surely there are more suitable activities for kids?

SiobhanSharpe · 10/02/2025 12:12

A nine year old is too young for an adult spa. The one I go to is over 16s only.
You need a spa/leisure centre within a good hotel but even they might have rules about what times children are admitted.

RaraRachael · 10/02/2025 12:14

The last thing I'd want if I'd booked a relaxing spa day is to find children there.

ANiceCuppaTeaandBiscuit · 10/02/2025 12:21

I was going to say Luxury Family Hotels too, they have a dedicated spa menu for kids and it’s lovely to go with your dd
