Anyone awake and want to keep me company?

I’m wide awake again, awful anxiety and due to commitments I’ll have next to no sleep for about the next few days anyway. Need to be up at 5.30am.

I’m so annoyed that I let my anxiety do this to me! So many times I’ve been prescribed medication and I get too anxious to even take it!

I need to start the Twinings sleep teas again too.

This is my third week without acupuncture for perimenopause and I've noticed the difference particularly with sleep. I've been up for the past 90 mins.

Could you afford (time or money) to do an alternate therapy to see if that helps OP?

I would be willing to throw a lot of time and/or money at the issue! Have you found anything particularly useful?

I've been awake all night. My back, where I fell over 9 weeks ago is killing me. I also have a lump on my calf the size of a pea, sending shooting pains up and down. This is the 2nd night I haven't slept. 13 week wait to see MSK clinic. I drove to A&E in desperation. Couldn't park. Will go to Tesco when it opens at 7am to buy sleeping pills.
I would give quite a lot of money, all I had, for someone to just switch my brain off, have a GA so I could sleep for 2 days, not wake up. I handle pain ok, but this has destroyed me. 3 different painkillers from GP have done nothing.

Sounds painful! 9 weeks is a long time to be in so much pain! I’d possibly get on to your GP in the morning, there must be some painkiller they can prescribe to help, or even a prescribed sleeping tablets?

I've been having acupuncture weekly followed by a strong massage. Following some initial communication challenges (my therapist doesn't understand perimenopause, just menopause) I was told to stick my tongue out and therapist diagnosed that my hormones are unbalanced and that sleep as well as stress are issues for me - all of which is correct. I've been doing much better since starting treatment but I've had 3 weeks off and it's definitely showing so I'm booking in for Friday to get back on track.
One plus is that I usually fall asleep during the acupuncture itself so at lease that's 40 mins of sleep to bank!

Hello wideawake club

My dc woke me up at 1.30am soaking from head to foot. Wee soul has a rotten cold thats been brewing for the last few days and was drinking so much earlier with the result of a wet bed.

Now coughing and wriggling in my bed with me and generally unsettled

I needed to be up at 7.30 but now much earlier as I have the washing machine on quietly(not spinning) and need to get bedding hung out before I go to work.

Dh on night shift so will be home at 8am to be faced with this mayhem

I decided to just give up and start the day. Have a coffee brewing and hoping for some sleep tonight! I’ve been awake for 26 hours already so surely by tonight I’ll be able to sleep!

I don’t feel as anxious now.

Glad your anxiety is wearing off.
On my fourth cup of coffee now.
Wishing a good restful night tonight.

It can be anything! I think the main issue is being alone, particularly at night! If I didn’t have to go to work tomorrow I can guarantee that I could fall asleep as soon as it starts getting light out or I notice the neighbours are up and about.

Can you take a couple days off to sleep in the day and reset?

arabellasdress · 20/04/2023 11:00

How are you feeling today? xx

PositivePenny · 20/04/2023 21:45

Apart from very tired, I’ve felt ok today. I’m going to go to bed soon and hopefully have a good night’s sleep!

I hope everyone else manages it too tonight!

That's good you're feeling better.

I'm unwell on the sofa hoping I can keep some water down.

PositivePenny · 21/04/2023 02:57

The improvement was short lived but at least I slept for a few hours.

It's better than nothing :)

I can keep water down now and the headache is subsiding but it's going to be a tiring day!! No sleep, lots of appointments.

Step by step, you'll get there.

I'm struggling tonight. My asd son didn't want to go to school yesterday which led to me having to carry him to the car and drive to reception and ask the staff to take him in. I feel awful but I know if he stayed home it would happen again and again. I'm dreading morning incase he refuses again. I've spoke to school and am trying to get to bottom of it

This sounds tough. Hopefully you have a better day today.

I’m awake too. Elderly mother worries. Just generally struggling with life.
