How much did your new bathroom cost?

I know this is a how long is a piece if string question but we are finally in a position to replace our decrepit bathroom. New shower, new separate bath and new sink and toilet. Due to small space and layout we will probably not be moving any pipes ect.

What did you do and how much did you spend?

Following with interest.

SallyWD · 19/04/2023 17:58

Following! We also need a new bathroom.

CupEmpty · 19/04/2023 18:04

The actual sanitary ware can be really cheap. There really isn’t much point paying ££££ for a different toilet or bath as the quality isn’t much better and materials are the same. Taps are worth buying a better brand for quality. Tiles again, chose carefully as usually not worth the extra cost.

We were quoted £17k for a small box room size bathroom recently

EndofDaze · 19/04/2023 18:06

Approx 8 k in May 22. Old bathroom removed. New shower cubicle but existing shower. New toilet and sink with cupboard. New taps. Fully tiled wall and floors. Went for mid price tiles and fittings.

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 19/04/2023 18:08

We paid eur6k in the end but that included a refund from b&q as they were so crap.
Do not go near them!!

DyslexicPoster · 19/04/2023 18:11

4.5k but we sourced and bought all the fittings, tiles etc then had a plumber fit them. 1k on the shower cubicle 😯 so it could have been cheaper. It's got floor to ceiling tiles on every wall, quite a big doubled sized enclosed shower, loo and sink. The fan wasn't included.

Bandanadrama · 19/04/2023 18:14

£900 ex display.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 19/04/2023 18:15

£16k!! End of 2022.

Complete redesign, ripped back to nothing, all pipework moved around and bath replaced with awesome walk in shower. Best money we’ve ever spent, it’s amazing! I try not to think about what it cost🤣

Last year:

~£2000 materials, sanitary wear and fixture and fittings (shower tray, taps, shower, screens, bath, vanity and sink, toilet, pipes and wastes, timber, plasterboard etc)

  • £400 plasterer
  • £300 electrician
  • £1000 tiler and tiles (floor to ceiling on all walls)
All other labour was a friend on mates rates so about £1500 (12 days work- included moving and rebuilding 2 walls, new doorway and blocking up old one).

It's not a big room but bathrooms are expensive and this was a great deal. Our house is fairly old so anything that needed doing invariably resulted in uncovering multiple bodges over the years!

Findyourneutralspace · 19/04/2023 18:17

£7k in 2020 - freestanding bath, walk in shower, basin and loo, floor tiles, wood panelling and decorating - including fitting. I love it.

ShowOfHands · 19/04/2023 18:20

We did a lot of work ourselves. Stripped back to brickwork and took up floorboards, moved things round, changed pipework entirely, new electrics. We bought from all sorts of places over a period of time. The suite is actually vintage (painted with blackberries and pretty unique), we built some stuff like shelves, cupboards and a bath panel, using reclaimed wood and old railway fixtures. It was a real labour of love.

Cost all in was less than 2.5k. That includes everything for an entire start from scratch to everything done, including toilet roll holder, mirror etc.

Thanks everyone one. This have given me a good ball park.

£6.5k 2022.
Removal of original 1930s bathroom suite. Some repair to walls/floor etc. Shower and large tray (as no bath), fully tiled but tiny box room.new toilet and sink.

EmmaC78 · 20/04/2023 19:05

I have just paid £5500 but that was me sourcing materials myself.

Frosty1000 · 20/04/2023 19:06

June 22 - complete strip back, moved pipes, re did floor boards as well as putting a marine ply. New bath ( get reinforced if you can), shower over, glass screen, toilet with a cistern in a boxing, magic wave your hand in front fish (😆), vanity unit and cupboard.

£8,500 south east and R2 units and stuff so not low end at all.

LynetteScavo · 20/04/2023 19:48

Wicks quoted me £4500 for materials, or £9500 to have it fitted. It would take a week to fit.

I can source what I want for just over £3000, but I can't find a fitter willing to fit what I've sourced myself.

Very small, typical 3 bed semi bathroom, so nothing extravagant or difficult, but you'd think I was asking for something extreme when fitters come to quote.

Amaretto21 · 20/04/2023 20:00

We paid 11,000 a couple of months ago. Small bathroom but complete refit and toilet and basin were moved

I’m having this same problem. If I go with a designer then their materials are more expensive. But if I source the materials myself then I can’t find anyone to fit it. 😫

And they all shake their heads at me and go “you don’t want any of that plastic Vicky Plumbing crap”. Of course I’d love a fancy designer tap & tiles, but this is all I bloody afford!!
