Pulling yourself out the "feeling disgusting" rut

Hi!

Shamelessly posting here for traffic tbh. Blush

Not sure if it's a little bit of birthday blues feeling like this but does anyone else get stuck into that rut of feeling really unhappy in one way or another or in a rut.

For example I got a truely awful haircut not that long ago and have bangs/fringe that isn't playing ball atm, my skin is a mess and struggling to find any form of routine with it (dry and generally uneven skin tone), I've put on around 10 lbs just eating shit and I feel it!

Usually weight doesn't bother me but every time I glance in the mirror I look Haggered, chunky and my skin is a mess.

Any advice on what I can do to pull myself out of this?!

Thank you so much in advance!!

I have the same sort of situation with growing out my hair and it being in a bit of a state right now. I try to just scrape it back as well as I can at the minute. Headbands or clips might work for your fringe.

I read a really good book on skincare by Anjali Mahto and my oily skin is looking much better following the routine she suggests. Do you want me to have a dig through and see what routine she suggests for dry skin?

Otherwise I think just small steps in other areas would help you start feeling better. Don’t try to do everything at once as you want it to be manageable. Things like making sure you’re drinking plenty of water, adding some extra fruit and veg or reducing certain foods that you know are making you feel a bit rubbish, prioritising sleep, wearing things that make you feel good, having your nails or eyebrows done or whatever it is that gives you a bit of a boost.

Hi!

Thank you so much for replying ☺️

I have quite combination skin, oily on the t zone and dry on the forehead, cheeks and nose.

It's quite difficult as I definitely "feel" like I've put on weight and don't prioritise my sleep and healthy eating, I'm a student nurse so breaks aren't of healthy food it's just sweets and coffee (anything for a sugar rush)

Please feel free to message me, I've got so much lush clothes to wear too for summer but I just feel the rest of me is a state and I don't know how to go about fixing it!

It’s definitely hard to make certain changes. I lived off coffee as an HCA. Most student nurses I know tend to work a part time job as well so sleep has to go out of the window at that point and eating well is so much harder when you aren’t getting proper sleep.

Your hair will have grown out more by the summer as well so if you get it cut and styled once it’s more of a length that you’re happy with and you’ll look great with those clothes you’ve got. That’ll probably go a long way to making you feel better.

I’ll dig the book out and see the recommendations for combination skin then and send it over to you.

Thank you so much! I've just followed on Instagram too just so I can have a little look into the person you recommended and any advice.

All I want is just manageable skin but the older I get (29) and the more of my degree I'm doing the worse my skin is becoming.

My hair isn't terrible but it's at the awkward in between length. I've managed to get an appointment with a really good hairdresser local to me to even give it some form of style and shape Smile
