Teacher said that my child (aged 10) possibly has dyslexia.
Struggles with reading and writing BUT doing really well and has come on leaps and bounds this year.
So I’m confused.
Will school arrange testing? Or do we organise it?
I don’t know too much about dyslexia and dont know anyone with it either so not sure what the next steps are.
can anyone advise please?
thanks.
I wasn’t at parents evening, it was dh.

dyslexia tests are very very expensive. Ask the school to get the child tested and fight for it

Be prepared for a long, drawn out wait if you let the school do it. I'm sure the teacher will have put actions in place for your child during class work but if you can, I would recommend getting a private diagnosis. They are costly but much quicker and more detailed.

Once you have this, the school & you can follow through with further assistance for lessons, exam times and other things which may help etc and this then follows into high school.

Apparently it is much easier at high school if these things are already in place.

Also, ask the teacher about getting an IEP ready for your child so you can see what the school are doing/going to do going forwards.
