Light hearted thread. Me and my partner always have discussions about this but is Jacket Potato a Saturday night dinner/tea?

I say it's not but partner disagrees x

No, Saturday night is pizza!

I don't understand what would be different about a Saturday night dinner vs the rest of the days?
A jacket potato with beans and cheese is dinner any night of the week!

Here it's our lunch. DH would want more than a jacket potato for his main meal, so as Saturday is the only day we don't work, we have it for our Saturday lunch together. Saturday evenings, I tend to do something a bit more special from scratch, usually with a bottle of wine.

A lot of people, myself included tend to have a more special or treat tea on a Sat night.

Saturday night is when we pull out the nice dinner that takes time to prepare. We routinely have jackets on a Wednesday nearly every week.

Saturday lunch yes.

Saturday night no, unless you wanted an easy quick dinner before going out.

More time to prepare for one thing so I'm more likely to be happy to cook a lasagne on a Saturday night or a pie, or try something new which I wouldn't do from scratch mid week when I have less time and am more tired from working.

Also, it's the weekend, feels like a time to have "treats" as opposed to jacket potato and beans, we'll spend more on our weekend food, so we'll spend more on meat, a joint for example. Will have a dessert, which we don't do mid week.

It's just a good way of balancing calories, money and time, to save the more "indulgent" foods for the weekend.

Jacket potato is a lunch time meal no way a Saturday night.
