WWYD? Job offer

If you had been head hunted for a new job, which pays 40% more than current salary, but slightly less flexibility with much higher targets, would you go for it?

The money is amazing and there’s a bonus structure but it seems set quite high, which worries me. Currently there’s a fair bit of flexibility but the job right now is pretty straightforward- and I sometimes feel taken for granted.

been in current job for 15 years, so feel a bit scared of change. But worried about extra stress and netting the new targets and amount of possible travel involved!

Am I talking myself out of a huge pay rise?

Is the money still amazing if you don't meet the targets for the bonus? Do you know if there's a high turnover of staff?

If I wanted 40% more money more than I wanted flexibility and lower targets then yes, I'd go for the new job. However, if I preferred to have slightly more flexibility and lower targets then I'd stick to my current one. It's just a matter of preference really.

So baseline salary is 40% more. Bonus is on top. Like I said, the targets seem relatively high but it’s a big company and I don’t know enough about the ins and outs of things to see if it’s completely unrealistic or challenging..

Also, unsure re the flexibility of the new job. It seems there would still be scope to use time to do school run which is the main reason the flexibility works.

But I think the safety net of current job is making me worried. I have been here a long time and know it’s totally secure. Obviously the other isn’t. But I would like to start earning more and gaining more experience ! Argh

Tbh ( I worked in recruitment for 10 years) I would ask the employer the questions on flexibility and to make sure can do school runs etc and reiterate that’s what you want.. Just sound stuff out with them.

regarding turnover of staff you can normally find stuff out online about staff opinions and turnover!
good luck

Ok, so looked into new company- it’s huge but it does seem like it’s used as a stepping stone so turnover seems relatively high. Measurements for bonus do seem too much and it makes me worry about the ethos.
So, we don’t actually need the money, although it would be nice.. so staying at current role and hoping that there might be a pay rise shortly!

Is it worth talking to your manager at current job, telling them that you want some more challenges or something and then more money. Or anything else there
