Is it a lintel?

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 18/04/2023 12:15

Door lining. Jewson definitely. Probably B&Q.

Menopants · 18/04/2023 12:16

Architrave

Sugarfree23 · 18/04/2023 12:17

The facing, the lintel is hidden behind the plasterboard

Lintel. The entire surround is rhe architrave. DIY store or architectural salvage yard! HTH

poppym12 · 18/04/2023 12:18

The wooden bit across the top? Architrave to me.

Irissa · 18/04/2023 12:20

The top part of the frame is the header.
The surrounding parts are architrave.
So presumably you want head or top achitrave?

Is this your actual door?
Only it looks as if the architrave is a moulded (?) unit, rather than having the top piece cut from a length and mitred to fit the side pieces.

Irissa · 18/04/2023 12:35

I wish @GiantKitten! No, this is my door! Grin

I have found the piece I need at Wickes/B&Q, thank you all!

So you might need to replace the whole thing.
(If it is mitred to fit you should probably get a joiner in to do it)

It is a very old/wonky house (as you can see), there is no space on the right hand side of the door for any fancy moulding, so I am just going to smooth/fill what you can see and paint it white. On the left hand side there is a bit more space but not much really. Again I will just give it a new coat of white paint.

Then I will put a horizontal section of architrave on the top, and use it to disguise the slight slant of the door frame. That’s the plan, anyway!
