I finally went ahead and ordered an Air fryer.

I was chatting with my adult son Saturday he and his wife got one a couple of years ago and they rarely use the oven now. He ordered me one from Costco online and it's coming today. Three adults in our house, down to two in September. We use the oven just about daily and Dh tends to not fill it. So it'll be here around lunchtime I have told him yet. Tell me about your Air fryer successes.

I do all meat (chops, chicken breasts etc) in mine, most of a fry up (not beans or eggs Grin). I love carrot and parsnip 'chips' as well as potato ones although they can take some experimenting with to get the crispiness right. Yesterday I made two-ingredient naan breads from scratch for the first time and cooked them in the air fryer. They turned out great!

Dh just rolled his eyes at me when I told him. So I have my work cut out. I'm looking forward to eating a crispy pasty at lunch instead of a soggy microwaved one. And chips Yum.

I don't like mine. I've had my air fryer a few month now I've found it very underwhelming tbh.

I've had it a few month now and it's not used daily, we all prefer how good tastes from the oven and don't notice that it cooks any faster but then our oven was recently replaced by landlord.

It still has that new oven smell and it's making food taste funny but I do have sensory issues around food as does dd and it's only her and I who can taste what components dh has cooked in it. He claims he can't tell and it's us being fussy Smile

Bacon and chips and beige freezer food are the things i find they cook really well but I don't have that type of food often enough for it to have been worth the cost.

I'm in the minority though as everyone I know in real life seems to loves them and talk about cooking everything in them and never needing their oven anymore.

We rarely use our oven in the week anymore as we've got a massive all electric range cooker that is very expensive to use. The airfryer (Ninja) has a roast, bake, airfry and grill setting so is really versatile. I start baking potatoes with 10 minutes in the microwave then finish them on the roast setting on low for half an hour. We eat sausages, steaks, roast veggies in it. And it does a great finish on a Charlie Bigham ready meal.

You just need to get used to the heat as it's much more intense than an oven and I had quite a few disasters to start with Blush And it does oven chips (we have the Albert Bartlett fries) so well you'll never eat them out of the oven again. It also gets loads of fat out of everything. But for 2 of us, it feels very extravagant to use the oven these days.

I always do my dippy eggs in mine - 9 minutes at 130 degrees 👌🏻

We got the Costco one and love it. Definitely prefer food cooked in it and much quicker and cheaper that using the oven

I had a very cheap oven, so for me an air fryer was an upgrade, particularly for quickly heating sausage rolls, pastries and little savory bits.

It also roasts potatoes far quicker (par boiled, would take 40 mins to crisp up in the oven, 20 mins in the airfryer). Likewise for roasting Mediterranean veg.

Meat is also very good in the airfryer - sausages, bacon, salmon, chicken breast and meatballs have all come out better, particularly as mine has a drip tray inside each bin.

However, now I have a nice new oven which holds the heat better we'll see how we go, I still don't I'd put the oven on to heat croissants for 4 mins.

We have a cheap oven too. It takes forever to heat up and even through it's a fan oven it cooks unevenly and it's not old. So I must be able to save on electric just by not needing forever to preheat.
