Been potty training for a week and worried DS isn’t weeing enough

Today is day six. He hasn’t had a wet accident since day two so he’s got the concept. He’s gone from weeing regularly throughout the day to not going at all in the morning, a wee early afternoon, then mid afternoon, then after dinner.
they’re all big wees! Not very very pale but not very dark either (always looks darker in the potty!)

today for example he had a big beaker of oat milk, a cup of water, probably about 3/4 of his drink bottle of water plus a babyccino while we were out. He’s just been sipping more water with dinner. He could drink more but has got worse at this lately but I’m trying. He also has yogurt, fruit, veg and grains which all include water. And milk in porridge if he has it.

is three big wees enough?! Is holding it in all morning going to cause problems? I say holding but he has tried on the potty multiple times and said he doesn’t need to go and doesn’t seem in any discomfort ever. He does seem to have issues going when we are out and about at the moment I don’t think he can relax and let go, and goes as soon as we are home. I’m hoping returning to nursery and going there is going to help with that problem.

three times just doesn’t seem like a lot. He did have a sodden pull up this morning that looked quite fresh around 8.30am so maybe that counts too! He’s my first so I have no idea what I’m doing really.

We've potty trained DS over Easter too. He probably has 4 wees a day - he very quickly went from constantly doing wees in his nappy to being about to go hours without needing one. I don't think it's that unusual. What did strike me though was that your DS is still wearing a pull up in the morning and therefore weeing in that - is it worth taking it off as soon as he gets up so when he does do a morning wee, it's not being caught by a nappy?

@mynameiscalypso thats a good point. He’s only wearing it until he comes downstairs but because it’s the holidays he’s been having a bit of chill time with books in the morning, we are back to nursery tomorrow so I’ll whip it off as soon as he wakes and see if that makes any difference!

He wears it overnight I mean and into the morning but not all morning if that makes sense

My 2.5 varies, sometimes she says she needs a wee what feels like every 10 mins, if we are out and busy she can go a couple of hours. I take her night nappy off as soon as she wakes about 6 and put her on the potty though

Have also been potty training. Ds is 2 and 3/4. He only did maybe 4 big wees yesterday. I think its normal.

It totally makes sense - we're normally exactly the same but I've been trying to whip it off first thing when DS gets out of bed so it doesn't get used to it.

It = he!

This is really good advice thank you. When he first wakes I’ll go in and whip it off, as he likes to read books etc in there while I get dressed so I’ll make sure he’s in pants for that!

we’ve just had our first use of the potty out of the house after two days trying so I’m taking that as a success as well! I have had to lug the giant potty around as he hates the travel one at the moment but I’m hoping once he gets used to going out and about I can make the transition!
