I'm going to kick things off with Cheesestrings, SunnyD, Skips and Frubes.

Oh I like all the things mentioned here!

The only time I've given in and tried something because it was being pressed upon me was some dried squid snack my friend loves. I don't think I'll ever fully get over it. It was crunchy and dry yet chewy. I tasted it in my sinuses for days.

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 15/04/2023 13:49

Peer pressure can force you to try it, but not force you to keep consuming it if you dislike it. So, I don't agree with the statement.

autumnboys · 15/04/2023 13:52

Ovaltina . My sister and I succumbed to advertising and were bitterly disappointed.

MeinKraft · 15/04/2023 13:54

Goldschlager and Aftershock Envy

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/04/2023 13:58

Alcohol

PuttingDownRoots · 15/04/2023 14:01

Dirty pints. Basically a random collection of juice spirits and beer/cider. Topped off with baileys if you were unlucky.

What were we thinking?!?

scoobycute · 15/04/2023 14:12

Smoked salmon...ate it because everyone was having it with cream cheese and bagels one morning on a girls weekend away....

Absolutely rancid

FrostieBoabby · 15/04/2023 14:43

Oh another for smoked salmon. I remember going out for lunch at work when I was about 17, (30 years ago) someone high up was retiring and all the older posh, golf playing, funny hand shake type top managers were there.

Noticed they were all ordering smoked salmon for the starter and as a council estate girl my only knowledge of salmon was that it came out of tin and had salad cream stirred through but to try and fit in I ordered it anyway.

OMG, nearly 30 years later I've never tried it again, really thought I was going to puke on the table as I tried what was basically raw slimey fish for the first and last time.

Smallyellowbird · 15/04/2023 14:50

Pernod and all versions of it -- tried lots of different versions on holidays and hated them all, which I should have know I would.

hinterkitten · 15/04/2023 14:55

Turkish Delights- I think actually everyone hated them though and were passing them around the office because someone got them as a post-holiday souvenir and wanted rid of them

theheights · 15/04/2023 14:55

Guinness! I was in Ireland and everyone said I wasn't 'allowed' to go to Ireland and not have one. It was not to my liking! 😬

QueSyrahSyrah · 15/04/2023 14:58

Not disgusting but I'm perpetually eating cake purely to be polite when someone wheels out one they've made or shared out their birthday cake. I don't like cake 🤷🏻‍♀️

The most disgusting thing I've drunk is Aperol Spritz because everyone apparently loves it but either I had one that was very very wrong; or it tastes like licking ear wax off a piece of orange peel.

ichundich · 15/04/2023 14:59

Sushi, fruit liqueur, roiboosh tea, pasta salad. There was also crazy peer pressure to smoke weed, but I never caved in to that.

LittleLegsKeepGoing · 15/04/2023 15:05

Curry. Even the smell turns my stomach but agreed to eat one not to offend my boyfriend's father.

Guinness. Same boyfriend as above, I could only join a night out with his friends and their girlfriends if I took part in the Guiness drinking.

Unsurprisingly said boyfriend is not my husband.

Absinthe, that was pure peer pressure on a night out. Didn't taste awful, but fucking hell that stuff is lethal! I'm half convinced it's poisonous so makes the list on those grounds alone.

Ditto - halls of residence, Chinese flatmate was insistent it was a delicacy and she ate it by the bag. I took a huge chunk. Oh God, I couldn’t stop retching, I felt terrible (couldn’t stop apologising to her - she was holding on the wall laughing thankfully!!), it was like eating cat food. Weirdly sweet and fishy. I tasted it for hours.

Hersheys chocolate 🤢

LadyOfTheCanyon · 15/04/2023 15:28

Pickled and dried shark. Foist upon me by some Swedes in Germany. We were their guests so bolted it down as best we could. It was absolutely repellent.

Bacon - everyone raves about bacon sarnies. I think they’re vile. Way too salty. HATE bacon.
Same goes for Gammon.

Halloumi - it’s just not great.

Pigs in blankets.. again. Sausages aren’t special and bacon is gross.

those mini moon ice cream things. YUK.

Apart from the Moon things , I think what you're saying is you just don't like salt.

Tequila. Horrible stuff and worst hangover of my life

Kissedbyfire1 · 15/04/2023 15:56

Went to an off-site meeting on a recent Friday lunchtime at a voluntary organisation to find that their practice is to have Domino’s Pizza on a Friday as a treat if they have guests. They were thrilled to have us and insisted we share the pizza. It was “meat” they said. Whatever it was, it was disgusting. I have never eaten Domino’s before and won’t be doing it again.

JoanJettsMullet · 15/04/2023 15:57

Tequila, sambuca… any shot really. Makes me instantly throw up.
