Passport renewal turnaround time

DS (14) needs new passport by 8th July. We were going to do fast track due to strikes but no appointments seem to be available online. Am nervous about posting old passport but we are well within recommended 10 weeks if it's sent today. Anyone got recent experience of impact of strikes on renewal times or any advice please?

Send mine a few weeks back no issues at all and back in 2/3 weeks - make sure to send special delivery

I sent mine 26th March and had my new one 10 days later.

I applied 2nd April. My DH's has arrived, mine is on the way. Just waiting for DD's to be approved.

DH did an online renewal 2 weeks before the strikes started and it was back within 10 days.

I applied for both DC first passports the beginning of March. DC1 back within 3 weeks. DC2 has been stuck on "we have received your documents" for nearly four weeks now. Getting a bit nervous, holiday in 5 weeks 😶

Well mine arrived today, so took 13 days, which is a very pleasant surprise.
