My body won't let me lie in.

Literally sick of waking up at 5.30am even on the weekend.
I leave for work at 6.30am mon-fri and I generally fall asleep about 9.30pm.
On a Friday and Saturday night I force myself to stay up til 10.30/11pm in the hope of a lie in the next day, but it never ever happens.
So here I am again, sat downstairs from 5.30am on a weekend, drinking coffee whilst everyone else is still fast asleep.
Anyone got any good tips for achieving a good lie in?

I'm the same but have zero tips - I think I read somewhere it's best to stick in a similar sleep cycle for the weekend even though you might want a lie in as it helps your body! I can get an extra half an hour max if I wear my eye mask to sleep in 😂 that's about it.

I’m the same. I like it! I have 2 cups of coffee then take the dog out before most people stir.

I had horrendous insomnia both times I was pregnant and found playing “sleep sounds” helped. I quite liked gentle waves and calm jungle sounds. I wonder if you could train yourself to fall asleep to these noises, so that your body associates them with sleep, and maybe when you start hearing them at 5.30, you’ll drift back off?

I wake early but just don't get up at the weekends. You can just rest without actual sleep.

Go back to bed with a book and coffee. About to make a coffee here and read for an hour or so.

Would reading a book in bed help? With a drink of something milky?
At least you would be resting.

I.am.the same. I.have read that despite the fact that is what we want our body doesn't necessarily want this. I know some people do though.
I.was not asleep.until 2 last night- supporting a friend who had to have her dog put to sleep, but ping am awake 4 and a h hours later. Is there any way u can make s cup of tea then go back to bed and chill? Read, watch a programme etc? I know it's not sleep but a compromise perhaps?

Sadly no tips. I love a lie in - if uninterrupted I can sleep until lunchtime. Unfortunately my cats don't agree and get me up stupidly early and I can no longer fall back to sleep. I hate starting the day so early, I'm not designed for mornings.

Same. Apparently it is just the way some people are hard wired. Unlucky for me as DCs have my up-with-the-larks gene too. So no peace from 6am onwards even as one heads into teenage!

I guess my body doesn't need a lie in! I just dream of waking up at 8am instead of 5.30am. I always come downstairs as I like to go on my phone, scroll mumsnet etc and watch videos and it wakes DH up if I'm fidgeting in bed. It's freezing though. Turned the heating off a week ago and I think it needs to go back on!

This

I actually think it's better for the body not to change the time you get up drastically. It means that when it's back to Monday it's not such a shock!

I love sitting in bed (like I am now). I've had a cuppa and am just having a quick browse of mumsnet before heading out with the dog. I've read for a bit too.

Enjoy the peace 😁
