Donating blood?

Hey, so I want to get some extra money. Has anyone donated blood before? What’s the process and how much did you get paid for it?

Are you being serious?

"Donating" blood is just that-a donation.
You don't get paid except for in biscuits and squash

drpet49 · 14/04/2023 20:40

Haha very funny.

You don’t get paid. At all. Whatsoever. Free tea and squash and biscuits though.

Whiskyski · 14/04/2023 20:41

If you are in the UK then no, you don’t get money for blood donation.

If you are in the US it might be different?
if in doubt - google

If you're in the UK you don't get paid, sorry. You do in the states. Not sure about elsewhere.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 14/04/2023 20:44

In the UK, if you are very lucky there might be some bourbons left. Sometimes people post pictures of posh snacks including Seabrooks crisps but I've never seen them in real life.

ExtremelyDetermined · 14/04/2023 20:45

We get Seabrooks crisps.

SpikyHatePotato · 14/04/2023 20:51

You have to be over 17 to donate blood, suspect you'll be waiting a while before they'll accept you. And even then, you won't get paid.

JustMeAgain45 · 14/04/2023 20:53

Got a whole 2 finger kitkat last time I went, plus some juice!

Capitulatingpanda · 14/04/2023 20:56

As others have said blood donation is unpaid but you could look into research and clinical trials, you can make extra money that way. Some might be a couple of hours £50 types but some can be £1000s depending on time commitment and what procedures you're happy to undergo. I made good extra money doing bits here and there as student.

Crocodilekneecaps · 14/04/2023 20:58

I always get Seabrooks ! Or mini cheddars

I will look into these!

There are some paid donation places for research, my friend did that in a london a few times.
They are not allowed to pay people for blood but they reimburse you for your time- which is basically the same thing anyway

This thread is ridiculous.

In what world are Seabrooks crisps 'posh snacks' Grin

sanityisamyth · 14/04/2023 21:35

🤣🤣🤣

Crocodilekneecaps · 14/04/2023 21:38

Seabrooks were all they sold in our school tuck shop

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 14/04/2023 21:41

I bloody love seabrooks.

Anyway so I ever get are those little packets of 3 biscuits so seabrooks definitely qualify as posh in comparison.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 14/04/2023 21:47

Pre-COVID my local donation centre did fabulous hot chocolate but it’s just cold drinks now.

I got fruit shortcakes the last time! It had been years since I'd had them. I ate three packets Blush

thatsn0tmyname · 14/04/2023 21:51

I'm rather partial to a mint club.

Custardbanana · 14/04/2023 21:53

The only time I ever have Tuc sandwich biscuits and lemon squash.

Me too! My local one only ever has orange clubs, no mint 😔

Iwantacampervan · 15/04/2023 09:17

We get Seabrook crisps, Tuc biscuits and Club biscuits - I miss the cup of tea at the end, squash isn't quite the same. There's crisps & biscuits before and after you donate - snack heaven!

Throwncrumbs · 15/04/2023 09:32

The clue is in the word ‘donation’!
