Feel like I'm grieving! My 15 year old changed overnight

My lovely dd seems to have changed overnight and I keep feeling really sad and upset about it. We were so close and she would always sit up with me watching tv or playing a game.
She's gone! I know it's normal for teenagers to be like this but it literally happened over night. Now she stays in her room or sees her friends and seems to find us really annoying.
I feel like I've lost my dd and someone else is here living in the house!
Any tips?

Have you spoken to her about it? A sudden change in behaviour in a teen would worry me.

Radi0noise · 14/04/2023 18:27

Yes I have and she gets annoyed at me asking if everything is okay. She says she is fine.

Everything has gone through my head, is she being bullied, groomed, drugs but I don't think so

I'm sorry I went offline when you responded.

It just seems strange that that has happened over night.

My kids are ND so I probably can't give the best advice as I don't have experience, other than to give the opportunity for her to join in but don't let her know, too much, how you are feeling about it as teens like to do the opposite often.

I'd check her phone.

Stick her in the passenger seat of your car, take her for a drive where you talk gibberish and then get her talking

Teenaged talk most in car journeys (don't have eye contact) maybe plan something that you can do together which you have to drive to, might allow time and space for her to talk if she needs too also some quality time together doing something you would both enjoy

Yes my DS is just the same and it’s making me very sad. But they are teenagers and we just need to be there to support them.

This happened to my daughter at the same age. I was heartbroken. I took her to the doctor and it turned out her personality change was du to severe anaemia! She was given tablets and are now back to her old self.
