Fitbit sleep tracking-should I be concerned?

Hi dd has a tracker that records her sleep. According to the tracker she is very lacking in sleep due to waking up for over an hour (at least every night) Her graphs show regular red lines for being awake throughout the night. I haven’t got a tracker to compare and a couple of people I’ve asked have said this doesn’t happen on theirs.
Was wondering if this is something I should be concerned about- dd doesn’t seem to sleep well or if it’s the tracker being very sensitive, and in fact a normal recording?

It's pretty normal to be awake for some prob of the night (just part of sleep cycles) - my Fitbit says 'benchmark' for women my age is to be awake 5-20% of the night.

Is she getting enough sleep across the night otherwise?

What tracker is it? My fitbit shows similar with awake time, either small or bigger sections even though I'm not lying there wide awake iyswim. I think it's pretty normal? Mine normally says between 45-90 mins 'awake' time per night.

How old is she?

Does it have a benchmark? I've attached mine for Wednesday night and I'm awake for around an hour too.

Thanks- sounds pretty normal then- she doesn’t get enough sleep, around 6/7 hours. She is 13 so probably needs more but will try to find other ways to increase her sleep a bit. She doesn’t lie in at weekends to catch up due to the activities she does but does go to bed quite early whenever possible.

As someone mentioned already an "awake red line" doesn't mean she is awake.
I use fitbit and find that I am most rested on days I have at least 1 hour of deep sleep. That is actually regardless of the length of my sleep for any given night. I am going to research how to get to that consistent 1 hour of deep sleep every night.
Not sure what teenagers sleep needs are.

This is what Fitbit says about wake times during the night, so if there are lots of little dashes, that's normal.

You’re right that 6-7 hours isn’t enough. How is her sleep ‘hygiene’? If she is using screens before bed or has a TV in her room it will affect her sleep quality.

greyhairnomore · 14/04/2023 09:37

I don't believe fitbits. Mine says I'm asleep when I know I'm awake.

HighInfidelity · 14/04/2023 09:53

Not everybody needs a full 8 hours of sleep a night. If she’s feeling rested and has enough energy then 6-7 hours might be fine for her. It was for me at that age.
