Resources for helping kids learn French at home

I'm after recommendations, please (e.g. podcasts, series of books, apps, flashcards etc), aimed at kids between 7-10ish ideally.

We have a few second-hand bilingual books already and I'm keen to encourage what seems to be an aptitude in one of my kids for languages (...and for the other one to at least take in a single word of French at some point soon 😁).

We have very much enjoyed the One Third Story books in our house. https://onethirdstories.com/

I don't know if it is available but my kids used to watch Muzzy.

We had it on VHS tape which just goes to show how old I am!

I still get the song in my head every time we see a parking meter (Muzzy eats them!)

Ask the library as they will have books, etc. There is loads on YouTube, don't forget on you tube they have formal lessons right through to stories films etc. They will enjoy Duolingo, this is a free to learn language app. There is no catch and great for vocabulary. Tell them to do it every day slow and easy. I have been learning German with these resources. Cost me nothing and I am doing well. I give myself homework, I wrote an essay the other day in Deutsch. Alles Gute und viele Glück
Don't forget it takes years

Just one day at a time, but tell them never to give up

Boy or girl? They could do an online language swap with my pair.

Are they a bit young for Lupin? Must be other French programs with subtitles. I struggled to get mine talking or interested in French, even though I’m fluent and we spend most holidays in France. Older DC did v well at gcse but is not taking for A level. Younger one is now saying I should have done more when he was a baby.. 🤔🙄🤣. Wants to do French A level. Hey ho. And good luck.

French children's songs. Then french cartoons for French kids.

Thanks very much all!

@Zuve I do use Duolingo and Babbel for my own French and Italian practice but annoyingly I can't see a way to set up a second profile on either of them, so both apps are stuck at my level, essentially, which is too advanced for them - they're literally just starting to learn first vocab. I could sign up with my husband's email on another device though I suppose - night give that a try!

@ElvenDreamer thanks for that, I'll look into those - had seen them on Insta a while ago, thinking about it.

@AndyandTeddyarewavinggoodbye I'll look up Muzzy, I like the sound of that!

@AuxArmesCitoyens I'll send you a PM, thanks.

@Radiatorvalves the you get one deffo too young although the elder would probably enjoy the story, if not the subtitles/language immersion 😁 @BlackeyedSusan probably has a sensible plan with the cartoons - I'll see what's available (and what I can tolerate!...)

I've realised we have a To card that has My First French 100 Words on it so will also have a gander at that, and I think there's a Yoto kids podcast in French, although the immersion technique would probably be less effective then something bilingual that they felt they had a grip on.
