The price of holidays

Looking for a holiday for mid June for me, DP and 18 mo DS. The prices are extortionate! I expected they would go up a little bit, but the prices I'm seeing seem daft. We went abroad twice last year all inclusive and I've done a comparison of this years prices and they're both 500/600 more. Has anyone else found this? Any tips or best places to look? I'm looking at jet2 and TUI.

The same resort, same week, was over £300 per person more this year than in 2022 so almost a 50% increase. Even in the U.K. hotel prices seem to have suit up. Im back to travelling for work (how 2019!) and even a mid week premier inn in the arse end of nowhere is barely under £100 per night!

Same holiday as last year is more expensive for bed and breakfast than it was for half board last year. The increase is huge.

We were hoping to get away twice again this year and make the most of DS being free while he's under 2 but that's highly unlikely with these increases!

Play around with dates and flight times as much as you can. We would have saved £500 off the cost of the same holiday we had last year (as we’d budgeted for a bit more than last year we chose to go for a better hotel). We’re going a week earlier this year which puts the holiday into a more peak period so really surprised it worked out cheaper. We booked with TUI.

I'm going to have another look later when I get the laptop set up and check different websites. We are quite limited to dates as my parents look after DS twice a week and they're also going away in June so I'm trying to match with their dates so we don't have to pay extra for childcare fees.

Yes prices are extortionate. Booking early does make a difference - the holiday we are on now went up by £1000 compared to what we paid last year. Have a look at doing flights and hotel separately. We saved a £1000 doing this last year to Cyprus. The hotel also offered an upgrade from half board to all inclusive free of charge. Otherwise I try and think outside the box a bit. See where the cheap flights go and what is in the vicinity. Sometimes you can get good deals on cruises too.

OP, have you considered booking flights and accommodation separately. It may not necessarily be cheaper but it's always worth a look. If you book on free cancellation you can monitor the prices and if they drop cancel and book again.

Has it got to be mid June? May before the schools break up is usually cheaper

We ended up booking for Cala d'or in Majorca for 10 nights. It cost 2.9k for the 2 of us (as DS is free) and that was with booking hotel and flights separately, the flights alone were over 1k with jet2 which is more than we've ever paid for flights I'm sure!
