What happens when you see a crisis team face to face?

Been asked to go down and see them tomorrow at 10am although told if can’t keep myself safe to go to A&E in the meantime.

I haven’t seen a MH professional in three years, just phone calls, and never seen crisis team despite two admissions for MH reasons to acute medical ward.

The CPN on the phone said it’s just a chance to talk things through and maybe see one of their doctors, but I’m not sure and a bit scared of going. I’m struggling just to leave the house just now as it is.

How have they been alerted to you?

Are you on your own atm?

I’m on my own yeah, I live alone.

It was via 111, I spoke to 111 at the weekend and they arranged for crisis team to call me today. I’ve talked to them on the phone before but never met them.

They said there’s medication for me to pick up too, from my GP, but I can’t get there to pick it up as so agitated I can’t leave the house.

Yeah, I've seen them face to face.

There was just one who led the conversation but he brought in others as he needed for advice and second opinions. They are VERY good at their jobs and they know that people like you and I are nervous and a bit scared. They are there to help you and to do so rapidly. Before you go, double check the location as I once was so anxious / whatever that I couldn't find the place even though I'd been there before.

Bottom line is that they are there for you and to keep you safe and they are well trained. They'll help. I didn't find them scary at all. I found them to be very compassionate and very switched on.

As for your medication, if you really can't manage, then maybe ask the place if they can deliver it. They do have to consider situations like yours and have contingencies for it.

Honestly, IMO nothing. When I needed help, it felt I had to be standing at the reservoir edge before I got any help. I was advised to seek private therapy.
