At what age did your child lose interest in their trampoline?

DS will be 10 later this year. We are thinking of getting him a trampoline as he adores trampolining when he goes to friends for play dates. We have never got him one because our garden is on a steep slope. However, it seems with some donkey work we could install one into the ground so we’d hope that he would remain interested in it for a few years. At what age did your child lose interest in trampolining?

11/12.

Mine played on theirs until DS went to uni!

It was huge though.

As long as it’s a good one, I’d go for it. Relatives of mine found them a brilliant de-stresser when they were studying for exams. They used them until they went to university.

We have a 12 foot one and my recently turned 13 year old has only been on it a few times in the last year. 15 year old hasn't been on it since the first lock down.

ShandaLear · 10/04/2023 18:38

My DCs are 15 and 17. It’s still well used in the summer by them and their friends. All sort of games have been invented and played, and they’ve even had sleep overs on it. Get the biggest and best one you can afford and reasonably fit into the space (ours is 16’*11’) and it will pay you back in hours and hours of entertainment.

Leggingslife · 10/04/2023 18:43

13 and going strong

LastWill · 10/04/2023 18:43

Ours was only dismantled age 13 as we moved house. It was never put up again due to a few ongoing things so teen kept declining.

SomersetBrie · 10/04/2023 18:45

DS age 14 is probably going to retire from it this year. It's becoming a bit unsafe from overuse at this stage. We bought it just before lockdown, worn down after years of begging, and it was an absolute godsend.
If you want a few years out of it, as said above, buy the biggest and best you can. If we had more space and it was in good shape still, we'd keep it for longer.

JessicaBrassica · 10/04/2023 18:47

Our kids have asked us to sell their 8’ trampoline. They are 12 &13. They'd be happy with a bigger one but this is too small for anything other than jumping up and down.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 10/04/2023 18:47

We had a very big one and dds dss and I jumped on it until we had to get rid so late teens mid 20s snd mid 40s bloody loved it

GoodnightJude1 · 10/04/2023 18:48

My DD is 22….she still comes over and goes on it 😂
DD15 and DS 13 tend to just lay on it…..🙄

Easterfunbun · 10/04/2023 18:49

My oldest is 13 and still uses it. Literally the best thing I ever bought for my kids.

ExtremelyDetermined · 10/04/2023 18:50

11/12ish, it was an 8 foot one. I think a bigger one would have been used for longer.

SeanMean · 10/04/2023 18:50

Around age 10. Just was played with less and less.

He’d used it loads from age 3 though so we got our money’s worth!

cantkeepawayforever · 10/04/2023 18:56

We had a 12 foot one, used until ds and dd were around 15/16? That’s a decade of continuous use, so at pence per day of fun, probably our best value ever purchase.

Get the biggest you possibly can. Friends with smaller ones retired them much earlier.

Petrarkanian · 10/04/2023 18:59

13, then my husband turned it into a train shed.

elliejjtiny · 10/04/2023 19:07

Ds1 is 16 and still uses ours sometimes. Ds2 is nearly 15 and uses ours most days.

Skybluepinky · 10/04/2023 19:12

Depends on the child, most will have grown out of them by the time they r in year 7.

LMumOfGirls · 12/04/2023 13:48

My girls are still young, 3 and 5 and love their trampoline. Digging one into the ground however means you are stuck with that trampoline, then with the hole once they have finished playing with it! I would get one above ground that can be taken away easily and doesn't mean loads of ground work!
I have a Springfree trampoline as the 10-year warranty means my girls will be using it well into their teens!
