I’m so gutted, booked to take the kids on train to London on wed and stay overnight, never been to London (and have asked on here about tubes, places to go etc) so has to put together a loose plan and now it’s forecast torrential winds (47mph gusts) I am absolutely gutted, this isn’t going to happen is it?

There you go op - straight from the horse's mouth!

I don’t think they let horses drive trains, do they?

Iwasjustasking · 10/04/2023 17:02

Thankyou everyone that has answered my question, not a drama queen at all, I drive everywhere so have never travelled by train, this is a special trip for dc and I worried that is all. People seem to forget that some things aren’t people’s norms and therefore they have every right to get anxious/worried etc!

@BabychamGlass please don't use 'butthurt'.

sanityisamyth · 10/04/2023 17:17

Why would a bit of wind stop you?

sunshinesupermum · 10/04/2023 17:22

Birmingham to London by train = less than 2 hours. The worst that can happen is a delay due to the wrong kind of leaves on the line or possibly a fallen tree if we get gales! London will be fine, I promise you OP. Plenty of museum and other indoor activities however long you're staying here. Wishing you a fab trip.

Yabadabadoooooooooooooo · 10/04/2023 17:25

Not ideal conditions but I would still go. I'd keep an eye on the forecast and try to plan to be indoors for the worst winds.

@SlipSlidinAway i am quite anxious about the whole trip and coming from Birmingham I’m used to big cities! Never been to London but have a loose plan based on some fab guidance I got on here and also prepared to do the museums if the weather is really bad, I think I just want this trip to go ahead for several reasons for my eldest dc and I think that is making me more nervous!

Oh I hope not I have family travelling down this week... Didn't consider trains would be off

saraclara · 10/04/2023 17:48

You'll be absolutely fine. I hope you saw the train driver's post further up. I've taken the train into London in similar weather and worse, and it's really not an issue.

Have a lovely time, and stop worrying!
