Looks set to rain all next week, arghh. I’ve booked soft play and swimming - anything else?

Wellies on and go hunting for the best puddles. Any museums near you?

CheeseMcKnees · 09/04/2023 21:21

Puddley muddy walk

Beaniesmumsie · 09/04/2023 21:22

Baking a tv day? Reading books, building a cushion den

Puddle suit + wellies and do what you usually do.

Big pile of dry lentils on a tile floor + several spoons and pots to transfer them into

Sofa cushion soft play.

Kitchen disco

Glowsticks in the bath

Cbeebies

Pretty much anything you'd do when it's dry. Just add wellies & a rain coat

Choccyeggs20 · 09/04/2023 21:29

Splash suits and jumping in puddles, baking, painting, tv, museum

Username24680 · 09/04/2023 21:30

@Ingredientforcooking waterproofs & wellies on & go puddle jumping! My 2.5 year old loves it 🤣 other activities:

  • cooking/baking
  • arts & crafts (playdoh, painting, colouring)
  • reading books
  • get them involved in chores
  • lots of play!
Ingredientforcooking · 09/04/2023 21:30

When it’s dry it’s mostly garden, farm or park and they aren’t really very enjoyable in the rain. I’ll see about any museums - think there might be one in the next town.

Another vote for puddle suit, wellies and going to find big puddles to splash in. We also go to the library to read and choose books, go to museums, trampolining and soft play. Ikea is also a surprisingly excellent toddler destination as they love being allowed to open and close all the cupboard doors etc

LittleBlueBrioTrain · 09/04/2023 21:31

Waterproofs, wellies and out in the rain. No one will be at the park and the slides are always super slidey in the rain 😆

DiscoBeat · 09/04/2023 21:32

Lots of rain and mud - that was right up my toddler's streets! And painting!

Careerdilemma · 09/04/2023 21:32

Oh and garden. Mine is often outside in the rain in his puddle suit and wellies. Love it with a bucket of water and a variety of containers to tip water with.

A big supermarket to choose a new book/magazine plus a snack for when they get home. Do it by ublic transport to stringer out longer.

Any small laval museums to walk round?

Caldicot · 09/04/2023 21:47

We like to get out of the house every day but not actually in the rain! Museums, trampolining, children's centres (ours are open in school holidays), library, music/dance/drama classes, galleries, aquarium, bowling, tourist attractions (eg Tower of London), play cafe, gymnastics. Loads going on nearby as we're in London.

Mafelicent · 09/04/2023 21:48

Library, big tesco/homebase, free museum, bus/train ride. I don't mind walking in the rain looking for puddles etc, but I can't bear just standing around a playground.

Ingredientforcooking · 09/04/2023 22:02

Trampolining is a good shout, there’s one with a toddler session I’ve been to before that’s quite good.

TV

Teapleasemilknosugar · 09/04/2023 22:22

Library.
Change the bedsheets and jump on the bed.
Sock fights.
Floor is lava.
Indoor obstacle course.
Den building with cushions/pillows.
Baking.
Reading.
Painting.
Go out anyway and dance in the rain.

But ultimately - let them get bored and see what happens.
