For me it’s Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. I know she has the new Barbie movie coming out but I still see her Harley.

Anne Hathaway…would have to be Princess Mia from The Princess Diaries.

Ryan Reynolds…of course is Deadpool

And one not yet mentioned

Meg Ryan - When Harry Met Sally

Tom Hanks - hard one The Castaway but others score highly
I haven’t watched Forrest Gump

I would see different characters for those two - might be an age thing!

Meg Ryan - working girl

Tom Hanks - turner and hooch

TomatoSandwiches · 09/04/2023 13:36

Meg Ryan wasn't in working girl that was Melanie Griffith.

For me actor is definitely male. Actress is female. Yeah I know the language has changed, but the words are gendered for us oldies. I thought of Matt Damon in anything, or Alan Rickman as sheriff of Nottingham. For some reason Winona Ryder came to mind in Beetlejuice, when I tried to think Actress. Or jennifer Lawrence, HG.

Lionoso · 09/04/2023 13:42

Sean Bean will always be Sharpe and Boromir.

Robert Downey Jr - Ironman.

Sigourney Weaver - Ellen Ripley.

Paul Rudd: Mike in Friends.
I know he has gone stratospheric in superhero things but I never watch that stuff.

Thatsshallot1967 · 09/04/2023 14:04

Watching Sally Bretton as Martha in Beyond Paradise I cannot get separate her from Lucy in Not Going Out. She's good in both and plays both very differently though. Also every time I see George Clooney...Doug Ross. Always had forever.

I can’t see Anthony Hopkins as anyone other than Hannibal Lecter. He terrifies me.

Alec Guinness as Obi Wan Kenobi

Ian McKellen as Gandalf

Must be something to do with being old and having a grey beard Grin

DannyZukosSmile · 09/04/2023 15:37

Margot Robbie isn't an actor though. She's an 'actress.'

ExtremelyDetermined · 09/04/2023 15:46

I agree with Ardal O’Hanlan as Father Dougal, I couldn’t cope with him in Death in Paradise at all.

Hugh Bonneville as Lord Grantham.

Vitriolinsanity · 09/04/2023 17:33

John Thaw as Morse
Robbie Coltrane as Cracker
Renee Zellweger as Bridget Jones

Margot Robbie as Tanya Harding:
”who would do that….

… to a friend?”
😂

Eddie Marsan as the furious driving instructor in Happy Go Lucky

Idris Elba as Stringer Bell

That’s exactly who Eddie Marsan is for me (and a genius).

Peter Capaldi is Malcolm Tucker. Harriet Walter is (somehow) both Elizabeth I AND Fanny Dashwood. Emily Watson is Bess in Breaking the Waves and Stellan Skarsgaard (Skaarsgard?) is her husband.
