What's causing this itching? Could it be my bras?

For the past couple of months I've had an itchy area that's getting worse. It's the bottom of the gap between my boobs and part of the area under one. I'm wondering if it could be to do with the underwire in my bras, although it's still itchy during the night/in the morning when I'm braless.

Any thoughts or any suggestions on what I can use to ease the itching?

Please just get it checked out. Anything that is different with your boobs including rashes, itching or literally anything needs to be checked. It's probably nothing but you need to be sure. Former BC patient here.

Oh crikey, that hadn't crossed my mind TBH.

It feels like the surface skin being irritated rather than an "inside" itch IYSWIM and the main itch is between my boobs where it's quite bony but I take your point, thank you. I hope you have the all-clear now.

@TheWorldsGoneMadAndSoHaveI yep, reckon that's it as it's probably been getting worse as the weather gets warmer.

Thank you

Hope you get it sorted soon 😊

What age are you? I've had a lot more issues with this in recent years and reckon it's perimenopause causing extra sweating. TMI but I now get a bit smelly between and underneath from the slightest exertion. Hate it as I never used to smell. Preemptive baby talcum helps a bit, although makes me feel like an old lady. Also, if you have an itchy under boob rash that won't shift, canesten cream might be worth a shot.

lionsleepstonight · 07/04/2023 21:09

I was getting itchy between the boobs and found 2 things helped, stopping wearing a 'sleep' bra as it seemed to encourage a sweaty valley and having a bunch of skin tags frozen off that had collected there.

Sunnysal · 07/04/2023 21:14

Daktarin spray for athletes foot works a treat.

Irishbell · 07/04/2023 22:04

it Will be thrush. Cut down on sugar and cover the area in canesten.

Dodie66 · 07/04/2023 22:16

Thrush, i have it too. Red and itchy. Cut out sugar

mumof1or2 · 07/04/2023 22:25

Liquid talc does the job for me. I had this issue for years and nothing helped, then I read an article about a tube of 89p liquid talc from Asda being the answer to everyone's prayers - tried it and it worked a treat. I use it every morning after the shower now and the problem has never come back.

@NormalForNuneaton I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. It's probably something that is absolutely nothing to worry about. My own experience tells me that it's better not to ignore odd symptoms. I think it's just really important to check anything boob related. Again, I'm sorry to have caused alarm.

TheFormidableMrsC · 07/04/2023 22:30

Also I'm good thank you, just had 3 year clear mammo and long may that continue 🤞

NormalForNuneaton · 07/04/2023 22:35

@mumofescapeartist I'm mid-50s and menopausal. Pre-HRT I had horrendous night sweats but never had this itching then strangely.

@lionsleepstonight I have a few skin tags around the bra line too. Such a nuisance. I don't wear a sleep bra though.

Thanks to those that suggested it could be thrush. I might try cannestan as I have some anyway and see if that helps.

@TheFormidableMrsC , no worries, you didn't cause alarm. It was a valid point that you made as some types of itching could suggest changes in the breast that could be cancer.

Pleased to hear that you've had a 3 year clear mammogram!

Try some Sudocreme and if that doesn't work then some Canesten or Daktarin.

ChocChipHandbag · 07/04/2023 22:43

I can almost guarantee it will be fungal. Make sure you use an anti fungal like canesten for at least 10 days. I lived with something similar in my groin area due a year and anti fungal cream cleared it in a fortnight. Athlete’s foot creams are fine.

I just think you've got nothing to lose by getting stuff checked. Maybe give some of
the topical treatments suggested here a go, give it a couple of weeks. If no change, see your GP. I am only a nag about this because I can't tell you how many odd symptoms of BC I've come across during my treatment. So many were not lumps. I had a weird tummy ache. Go figure 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Bogocz1 · 01/06/2024 11:55

Did you ever find a solution? I'm having the same problem

DeanElderberry · 01/06/2024 13:49

If the skin is discoloured it could be this darling, Tinea versicolor . But do check with your GP.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinea_versicolor

It's a yeast infection. So itchy it's painful, seasonal, and worse in summer than in winter. I've used creams and powders recommended by the GP and the pharmacist, but have found I have found the very best thing to clear it is home-made silver solution, splashed and sprayed liberally. Switches the itch off instantly and doesn't sting. Search for colloidal silver generator - I don't use distilled water so don't know how small the silver particles are, but there are a lot of them - the little gadget runs off a small battery and passes a current between two silver rods.

Bogocz1 · 01/06/2024 17:08

Been measured for a new bra today. Gone up a band size so I'll try that first and if it doesn't help I'll try what you say. Thanks
