Has you employer done Menopause training?

And do you think it's useful to women?

Both I and my boss are of an age. Our Sons (three between us) have all had menopause training at work recently.

(I think) it's well meaning but what it appears to have done is teach these young men that every time a middle aged woman is pissed off with them it's down to menopause, that menopausal women will need loads of time off work and not be able to concentrate when they are there and in one set of training materials that I've seen, suggest that they'd all be "normal" again if only they'd take their HRT.

I haven't experienced the actual training myself and awareness may well be a good thing, but how does this help women? Even if it is that these young men have chosen to take their own steer on what's been said, that's still the message they've taken from it.

So is menopause training in the workplace helpful? Important? Necessary?

We have a menopause policy and I can’t remember the exact wording, but it’s something like the employer will do all they can to accommodate the woman suffering with symptoms, but that the woman will do all she can to alleviate her symptoms. Which to me sounds like you will take HRT.

Yes my employer started this last year (large food-on-the-go chain, famous for baked goods) - awareness training for all employees and training for management around reasonable adjustments.

I am peri-menopausal and think it's a good thing, they are generally a good employer and do try to support staff who are having a difficult time whatever the reason.

I think it's a very good thing. Many men won't listen to their female partner, but if they hear this information in a non judgmental way around colleagues it might help them approach it better at home when they need to.

This stuff isnt taught in schools. Thank goodness workplaces are engaging.
