Just as the title asks- anybody know if this is possible and if so what should/shouldn't you be doing. Any success stories?

I didn't realise pins meant legs in cockney. I suppose I was thinking of what pins look like and how thin they are😁

I read about cankle surgery but I need to lose weight in general and I probably am too much of a wimp.

I can’t believe people are entertaining this?!

You cannot change your basic leg type from sturdy to skinny unless you starve yourself long term. This is preposterous!

You need to work on your self esteem, love. Honestly. That is your only problem. Your DH’s friends slender-legged wife isn’t going to give a shit that you have bigger legs than her and neither will anyone else. M

The advice on this thread is madness.

Hi, thanks for the specific exercise ideas and for giving me hope that a change is possible.

I don't think so. Even as an 8st teenager I had chunky calves

Re the holiday, fake tan will help make even the chunkiest legs look better!
I feel your pain - I am thin and run marathons regularly and do weights and spinning so am really fit and I STILL have cankles, cellulite and fat knees - a gift from my mum. I’ve always wanted those sinewy, lean legs but instead have chunky, pale legs that just look crap unless I have a load of fake tan on and the light is good! But make the most of your good shoulders - maybe some lovely linen wide leg trousers and a really nice top to show your shoulders off and no-one will know the cankle underneath!

I’m tall and have skinny legs, I always wish I had more shapely/womanly legs! I don’t think that we’re ever happy with what we have.

Pins is cockney slang pin pegs = legs. It doesn't mean skinny legs it just means legs.
The shape is genetics but you might be able to improve slightly with weight loss and work outs. I've been fat and thin and always had proportionally slim ankles and wrists at any weight and whether I worked out or not.

Yes, I know that. I know it as being just another word for legs.

But the way it was phrased ("obtain Pins") and a lot of the very specific replies made me think it had another meaning and that I was missing something.

If not, then no, I agree with pp that your leg shape is your leg shape. Diet and exercise may cause you to lose fat / build muscle but that's pretty much it. Same shape, less fat.

I'm short and thin.

Like I'm 8 stone and my legs are the worst part of me.

I walk every day and do Pilates.

Maybe the secret is learning to be happy with what you've got? My legs are far from perfect. I wear things that suit them. I don't give them any significant thought though. It's ok not to be perfect. The woman I know in life who is most unhappy/unconfident has the most conventionally 'perfect' legs and body. I wouldn't swap my life for hers in a thousand years.

Swimming (if you already like it) wearing short cut off training fins (doing front crawl or backstroke) totally firms up buttocks, thighs, lower legs and ankles.

Horse riding is amazing for legs
