Easter Lunch

For the first time ever as a grown up I am in charge of cooking the Easter lunch. Eek! Can you all talk me through your menus and help me to plan? Don't have a massive budget but was thinking I'll splurge on a nice bit of lamb and also have a pork shoulder in the freezer I'll defrost. It'll be 3 adults and 3 kids (10,7 and 4). No to chocolate dessert. Thanks!

We're having a Burmese curry we only eat at Easter (family tradition). Followed by an apricot tart DH makes.

I'm doing a leg of lamb baked with orzo and vegetables - it's a Diana Henry one-tray recipe and is very good, and means I can stick it all in the oven together and then get on with other things. Probably a green salad on the side with little gem, avocado, cucumber, feta cheese, dill, salad onions and walnuts and dressed with olive oil, lemon and salt.

That will be for 4 adults and 2 kids who eat the same as an adult, btw. Easter eggs and fruit for dessert!

I’m going for leg of lamb with garlic roast potatoes, roast leeks, peas, carrots and yorkie lids with a mint gravy. Homemade nut roast for the veggies.

Berry pavlova or chocolate profiteroles for dessert.

We never do starters with a roast dinner!

We're just us 4 this year but I'm thinking we may go traditional with a twist. Madras roast lamb, Bombay roast potatoes and saag or something.
Previous years we've basically repeated Christmas dinner which is awesome because I love it. Trying to work out how to make pigs in blankets Indian style too

Depending on the size of the lamb you might not need pork as well?

You could get a leg and a shoulder - shoulder is cheaper as it's more fatty but everyone could have a bit of both and it saves spending on a leg that has enough to feed everyone.

DH is not a fan of lamb so thought I'd do both for choice. The kids also would prefer pork I think. Really its only me that wants lamb how do I do garlic roasties? They sound amazing!

Op we are the trad lamb leg, stuffed with rosemary, garlic and anchovies.
Roast pots etc and also pavlova

Yorkshire puddings! (My phone autocorrected at the last minute!).

I cut the ends off the leeks, wash them and cut them into 2-3 large chunks. Then halve and quarter those. Pop them in a covered Pyrex dish with a generous amount of butter, good seasoning and put them in the oven for around an hour. Let the oven do the work!

Go Greek!! Slow cooked lamb (with the potatoes baked underneath) and pork souvlaki. Greek salad, tzatziki, flatbreads. Have a feast!

Very traditional roast here, turkey crown as neither of the meat-eaters like lamb. Controversially, I will be cooking Yorkshire puddings with turkey as we all love them (as does DDog).

Simnel cake for afternoon tea.

For us the traditional meal is fish and chips on Good Friday, as I was brought up in the North East, where everyone had fish and chips- the queues for the "best" chippies would be round the block by midday.

We're doing the yotam ottolenghi shoulder of lamb and boulangere potato recipe that was in the guardian a couple of weeks ago. Lamb juices dripping on the spuds as its cooked on the rack above. Can't wait. Just off to collect the lamb from the butcher.

Good Friday is the traditional fish so fishcakes wedges and peas.

Saturday is buffet at MILs

Sunday I'm doing gammon in the slow cooker. With roasties, Yorkshire's, cauliflower cheese, roasted parsnips. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert .

My sister is doing lamb and the trimmings and then a choice of puddings including cheesecake , we can’t go this year as our dog has been unwell and now has a very strict routine so I’m doing chilli as I’m the only one here who appreciates a roast .

We're doing a chicken roast with yorkies, stuffing and very garlicy crispy roasties. Then banoffee pie after.

I’ve just been and picked up my lovely meal deal from M&S- huge chunk of pork and 3 sides. No cauliflower cheese, red cabbage or sweet so a little sad. I then trotted off to Lidl mainly for pud - I’d spotted a much loved (by me) key lime pie and they haven’t got it so feeling tres sad and will have to think again!

Bloody hell of course! Gravy is such a given I didn't think it needed specifying there's always gravy in yorkshire
