Awful back pain

I had a discectomy couple of months ago. Recovered really well. Back at work really quickly (although took it easy) and leg pain from sciatica pretty much disappeared. But now I have a different issue. I get awful back pain in the night. I mean terrible. I can barely turn over. Last night was dreadful. Once I'm up and about it is ok. It's affecting my sleep as I wake up shrieking in pain. Is this linked to the discectomy? Anyone else have this? I'm in my 40s if that makes a difference.

I've a tilted pelvis and my back siezes sometimes during the night, something to do with my muscles always under pressure (🤷🏻‍♀️)if you lie on your back put a pillow under your knees. If you lie on your side a pillow between your knees. Bit of shuffling when you change positions but it definitely works.

Thank you! I'll try that x

Sounds weird but I'm glad you have posted this. I had a microdisectomy in august 2021 and recovered well. Returned to a physical job in the November. No sciatica symptoms at all but I wake every morning with really bad back ache/pain. Once I'm up and about it eases off but it wakes me most mornings and I feel quite sick with the pain.
I did speak to the doctors and she said that I have sciatica even though I'm not presenting with the usual symptoms. I have been referred for a non urgent MRI and physio. Hopefully I will receive some answers soon but if anyone else has experienced this and can offer suggestions to ease the pain/ache I would be grateful

This is so similar to my experience. I genuinely never had this issue before the discectomy. It is so strange. I'm still glad I had the discectomy as I am pain free during the day but feel at a loss as to why I'm now in so much pain over night 😕

Have you tried sleeping with your leg up - I have a large slanty pillow? I found that takes a lot of pressure off my lower back.

Go see your GP. You can get an infection in your spine called discitis which can be very painful. It's sometimes a rare complication of spinal surgery. It's probably not that but best to be sure.
