Curtain twitching whilst watching the massive turf war going on outside!

It's getting really quite aggressive and the noise level is crazy.

Jack is having a right barney with the new bloke. They both have expecting wives in tow. The wives are hanging about in the background whilst the boys go at it full on.

Vera looks sad. She's been happy living here and was about to have babies.

The Duckworths had a happy peaceful life on my pond until another mating pair of Mallards have tried to muscle in today. It's the best entertainment I've had in months Grin

My only concern is that I'm not sure which of the couples who are currently swimming around the pond is mine!

Just wait until the Canadians appear...

I thought Canadians were supposed to be kind!

The new pair really aren't giving up. They're hanging around at the side of the garden. The new guy looks like he's going to run and jump in as soon as Jack turns his back.

I've got an orgy going on outside my window. There are at least 30 frogs in the pond and it's only 6' x 3' in size.

curlywillow · 05/04/2023 16:48

Frogs have no morals. It's well known. Always shagging in public.

It's mad out there. Legs going in all directions. It seems any position or partner goes.

twolilacs · 05/04/2023 17:03

Well the aphids have been going at it hammer and tongs for the last fortnight if the sudden overcrowding in my garden is anything to go by. Disgraceful.

EasterEggBunny · 05/04/2023 17:05

5 posts in before I realize you're talking about actual ducks in an actual pond and this isn't a metaphor for humanity. Sounds like the street outside my old house every Friday night.

Is this a particularly tiny pond, why can't the ducks share? Is it because the frog orgy is getting in the way?

Don't get me started on the foxes 😲. No shame

PuttingDownRoots · 05/04/2023 17:10

Our squatters kids make a right racket and keep pooing on our patio.

twolilacs · 05/04/2023 17:23

I'm appalled.

curlywillow · 05/04/2023 17:28

Its a large pond (about 5m x 12m) but there's no way they're sharing. The couple not in the pond are now coming up to the window to beg for food so I'm pretty sure they're my ducks and they've been evicted!

Your ducks are pregnant? I'm no bird expert, but...

curlywillow · 05/04/2023 17:32

Well you know what I mean. They're definitely giving me signals that Vera is about to lay. A grandmother to be just knows these things.

Can you catch the squatters? Got any marmalade in the house ?
I've got a good recipe for orange sauce.

EasterEggBunny · 06/04/2023 00:29

They sound quite tame. You could let them inside and have house ducks. I guess you'd have to share the bath tub though, they'd never be happy unless they got a turn. They could build a nest in that little awkward bit round the back of the loo where nobody ever goes.

Nah, aphids don’t need a bloke; the women produce cloned baby girls on their own and only get round to producing blokes when they get board with pathnogenesis

The Pochards are in a thrupple. 2m 1 f.

I noticed today a pair of robins, I’m quite excited as we haven’t had a pair for a couple of years, I keep watching to see if they come and go from our holly tree as the last pairs always nested there.

I wish the sparrows would go live somewhere else, they are in the eves above my bed and I can hear them flapping their wings all blooming night.

we have a small pond, might be a ducks paddling pool I suppose, we get one frog, every year, always on its own, never any frog spawn, we think it’s a male who’s quietly escaped the females in next doors huge pond,

im eagerly awaiting the birth of baby squirrels who are then carried along the fence by a parent, said parent always drops one occasionally and there’s a massive hoo ha which is very funny to watch, we also have one squirrel that loves to run up the fence from the bottom and knock unsuspecting pigeons off their perch.

I enjoy a morning cuppa watching the nature in the garden, I never realised till recently how some birds and animals have their own personalities.

hope Jack and Vera see off the intruders.

Canadian humans are lovely. Their geese are footballs hooligans in matching outfits
