Depressed at the state of my leg

I developed a small varicose vein pre-pregnancy which got significantly worse once i was pregnant. Although the swelling gone down, my leg now looks awful and bumpy from top near groin, all the way to my knee. I feel very depressed about it, and worried about making it even worse in future pregnancies. What would be the best treatment for it from experience? I am willing to give anything a go to get rid of it. I have attached pictures below.

Unless they are painful, I doubt you would get any treatment on the NHS, but private clinics do carry out various laser treatments. You could try wearing compression tights to improve circulation, as well as exercise and weight loss.

I have this on my shin from when I was pregnant & so I have to always wear leggings or 3/4 trousers. It doesn’t hurt so it doesn’t bother me!

My neighbour just had hers done & it’s not on NHS, she had it privately so it can be sorted.

Day patient, private clinic, about £1550 and within two months you wouldn't be able to tell it was ever there.

Surgical removal?

EscapeTheCastle · 05/04/2023 14:35

Had mine done on the NHS over 20 years ago.
Under G A and it was called stripping.
Worked well for me.
Looks like it's a private option these days.

My DH had some done with lasers (on the NHS at the time), very quick and no recovery time. Stripping used to be pretty nasty.

Stripping was quite serious for me. Had scars, one big. I was out of action for a week.
I think things have moved on a lot since mine back in 2000.

Have your children, stay active and a healthy weight and then get them done privately. NHS won't do them at this stage. You might find supportive tights or leggings that pull you in like spandex or TLC sports leggings extra firm quite good for relieving achy legs.
Check out the Whiteley Clinic.

If you also get a dragging heavy feeling in your vagina or on your vulva supportive underwear like shapewear might help. Might be Pelvic Vein Congestion causing the varicose veins appearance.

You can get them stripped out but usually another pops up in the same leg. I’d learn to love them.
