Really annoyed with myself. Due two year check - will it be possible, or am I going to get a load of tutting and self righteous head shaking?

ive just had my daughters two year check and the only thing she wanted the red book for was to plot height and weight on the centiles chart.
I didn’t take mine with, lord knows where it is. She wasn’t bothered.

Really wouldn't worry about it at all. As PP says it's just to plot the growth.

I have no idea why they still use them and they aren't on saved online instead

Sod's law says you'll find it the day after your appointment and you can add it yourself anyway !

I lost my sons when we moved house and
Nobody thought anything of it.
I really wouldn't worry!

Crumpetdisappointment · 05/04/2023 10:07

oh thats a shame, for you
it will be on line though for professionals just a pity for you

Coffeecoffeeinmytummy · 05/04/2023 10:10

I always used to take the red book to appointments and none ever asked for it. Once I took it to the GP and they asked why I had brought it! I wouldn’t be surprised if they stop giving them out soon. No one seems to use it. Just say you forgot.

My youngest is 18, the last time I looked at her red book was possibly her first year check, possibly before.

They've not been needed. Don't worry. Smile

davegrohll · 05/04/2023 10:44

You only really need them for vaccinations I think and plotting growth

Ilkleymoor · 05/04/2023 10:48

Useful for vaccinations. I had a friend a few years ago who needed to provide dates of childhood vacs for a role - they were late 20s at the time. So maybe next time you go, ask for the dates and keep them somewhere so your child can have the info easily if needed. Otherwise can't see it will matter.

This is a relief but I’m so annoyed with myself: can’t think where it could be!

I refer to our red books for school trips, scout camps, etc, as the forms usually ask for date of last tetanus jab. My kids are older than OP's, so perhaps this info is readily available elsewhere these days.
