Do you find that really long thread titles make you think oh God, I can’t face reading this bloody thread and say just hide it?

Dortmunder · 03/04/2023 22:10

Yes

MegIsWhite · 03/04/2023 22:11

😃 The answer is yes, most times. If the topic doesn't draw me in with the first 10 ten words. Haha

SNWannabe · 03/04/2023 22:14

Id far rather have a long title that indicates the context rather than

"AIBU to be so shocked?"

and when you open it, expecting some juicy "to find my neighbour in bed with the vicar" it is "to see that cheap shit is less expensive to buy than expensive stuff"...

Goodread1 · 03/04/2023 22:15

I do find unessarey loooong Op threads Seriously off putting at times,

Long thread titles don’t necessarily put me off. But posts with massive slabs of text, long trailing incoherent sentences and no punctuation or capitalisation to break them up - now those are hard work to decipher.

I’m aware that some people are dyslexic and don’t find spelling easy. I’m also aware that some people dictate their posts rather than typing them. But I do wonder if dictating posts makes them less clear for others to read.

Yeah this. Some of the short click baity ones are really annoying.

@SNWannabe

Ha ha 😂 🤣 I know what you mean
I agree with you

bizzey · 03/04/2023 22:18

You can dictate your posts 😲😲!!
Wow ...
Love learning new things every day !!

ArmitageShanked · 03/04/2023 22:22

Yes but sometimes I just want to tell everyone everything that happened to me in the last 10 hours, honestly you have to believe me, you couldn't make this shit up...

And post

And go to bed.

Padstow58 · 03/04/2023 22:27

No I don't mind long thread titles.

What I do mind are really long OP's with no paragraphs. I take one look and just can't face it.

ArmitageShanked · 03/04/2023 22:30

I do wonder about the - my baby's not breathing, should I go to A&E? I'll just post and wait to be sure.

Someone walked quite closely to my house. Should I call the police?

I cut my grass, will it grow back?

My neighbour trimmed my bush.... oh hang on, that's the other site.

ThatsRoughBuddy · 03/04/2023 22:34

Not at all.

I Do Hide Ones Where Titles Are Written Like This.

Rogue1001MNer · 03/04/2023 22:39

Agree 100% with@SNWannabe and the others. I'd much prefer a title that gives me a clue about whether I'd be interested in clicking on it or not

If you have the right sort of phone, yes, you can dictate instead of type. I’ve never used it but a partially sighted friend of mine uses it.

Oh yes this one makes me want to log off mumsnet. So annoying!

Pixiedust1234 · 03/04/2023 23:23

Prefer a long title to "AIBU...?"

ImSweetEnoughDarlin · 03/04/2023 23:30

No, but really long op's, and op's without paragraphs do.

I don't read them at all if no paragraphs.

If really long, they have to be really interesting in the first couple of lines for me to continue reading, and they usually aren't.

I also click back at the first mention of anxiety/MH/autism/ND too. Sorry.

DannyZukosSmile · 03/04/2023 23:41

No. How ironic that YOUR thread title is long @Theos 😆

Totally this! These are the ones I don't bother to open now. Long titles are fine

tuvamoodyson · 04/04/2023 05:56

I don’t read big, long posts…as on life, I just want you to get to the point.
